For some reason I can't drink as I use to before.
5 month ago, if you showed me a bottle of Brandy, I wouldn't refuse it and would drink it with pleasure, now, just the smell wants to make me puke. I can only drink 2-3 glasses before I feel bad. I first thaught that it was temporary but now it seems it's here to stay. People may say this is a good thing, but I really enjoyed drinking with my mates.

Have any of you guys had this before ?

Yeah its called getting older. (no really thats all it is lol)

I'd not worry about it.

So what do you mean TDE, that when you get older your body can't handle anymore alcohol as it use to ?

Ive allways been something of a lightweight. Well when it comes to spirits anyway. :) I can drink as much as I like of anything else really. But spirits just tend to send me to sleep... ie unconcious :P

Are you pregnant? That could be a contributing factor...

 J/K

yeah i think TDE is right
because i think i remember hearing that young bodies can handle more liquor or somehting
(by younger i mean somewhere in your 20's as apposed to your 40's)

Yeah, but I don't see why its a bad thing, it wasn't doing you any good as it was, but as you get older it gets harder.. When your younger you can drink tons and not get a hangover.. older you get (unless your an alcoholic and drinking every day) the easier you'll find hangovers appear.

Instead of drinking so much, go out and get fit.. Being unfit is also another reason why it'll be effecting you more, because you drank too much, became unfit and your body can't handle it as well now.

Why would you even want to drink that stuff,it's sick !!

Yeah, that's true.

I'm older and unfitter, and I get hungover like on 3 pints now, about 4 years ago I could do 16 pints, still manage to stagger home and not get hungover.

I'm planning on getting fitter again in the near future, I used to goto the gym loads.
But I'm not planning on binge drinking that much again :p

Yup, its u getting older. I´ve given up drinking all together, since my hangovers are now 3-4 days long. To much pain for drink.

I used to be able to at least drink 8-9 beers be4 i was moderately drunk, now its 1 beer and im drunk. might as well not do it at all.

Their are substitues to drinking though :E

oh, well..

at least youll have a more healthy liver. :D
compared to your mates.

I used to be a booze hound until I just had bad gag reflexes every time I drank. Even something as simple as chugging a bottle of beer became near impossible for me, and I'd take forever to drink. My theory is that it was leftovers from a really bad drinking experience.

Still, I've noticed I've been getting better again, just by pushing myself further every time, gag reflex be damned.

Gag reflex? Oh man. Some guys aren't gonna like you! Hehe. I kid, I kid.

you are expiarencing reverse tollerance if you are a big drinker but if not you are just getting older your organs probobly arent working as well as they used to liver could be scared from drinking

I find i get burnt out on certain types of alcohol, southern comfort used to be fine now it makes me sick. Mix it up a bit.

Yeah, variety certainly helps.

Also, when's the last time you've had a bad experience? There was one time I got so messed up that I couldn't smell or see (let alone drink) any vodka for a few months. Some person was also blowing cigar smoke in my face that night, so I couldn't be near cigars either.

I've given up drinking for the most part unless it's something social, like wine with dinner or somebody offers me a beer. But I won't go out with the intention of getting drunk. It just conflicts with training too much, and really it's just rather sad sometimes when you look at yourself objectively. Maybe I'll reconsider next year. I'll be legal in june

*little late into the thread*

Yea, this happened to me with vodka; I use to be able to down a small bottle without feeling shit, but for 6month or so after a binge I couldn't look at the stuff without my stomach turning. It did eventually go away for me in that I can still take shots, but I don't think I could ever go back to the vodka-ownage I was pulling before ;(

I think I'l take that to heart jondy. I'm the person in my group who is the spirit master :D Beer makes me throw up, even after just a few drinks. Just the fizzyness of beer makes me want to be sick. Well, I'm just about alright with bitter, but larger is just moo moo pee.

I am having the exact same problem right now. I used to be able to drink a lot of whiskey straight with no chaser and enjoy it, and that was just a few months ago. Now I feel like throwing up at just the smell of the stuff.

Its the same for rum. I think it stems from getting really sick one night and having my body decide to try and not allow any more of the stuff from entering my system ever again. I am slowly getting back to normal but I can still only drink whiskey and rum if its mixed with some kind of pop.

Beer I am perfectly fine with though, I can still funnel without any problems. :p

I am pretty sure he is right...

The less you weigh, the less alcohol your body can take.

It just makes sense...

Dude, enjoy it, it's f'kin awesome being able to down stuff and everyone being like ' fuuuuck, that guy can hold his drink'.

Mullinator, that's pretty much what happened to me :( I've become an ale kindof bloke now, it's nice to break away from 'Carlsberg, extra cold please mate' once in a while :)

I can still take beer, but no as much as I use to. Something I really cant take, its rum, Bacardi, I hate that. I found out that if I want to go drinking, I need something to eat, specially bread, if not I cant take :(

Yeah maybe. But then again, I think I store up the drunkeness. I feel pretty ok until the last few hours of the night, and then I just....ahem, lose a few hours of my memory :o
Ever got drunk on aftershock? Now thats weird...Its a whole different kind of drunk. Its just so much warmer and fuzzier. When I drink whiskey, I tend to get a little hyper. On vodka, I guess I'm a mixture of hyperactivity and plain old drunken ness.

I never really drink unless I've had a good wholesome meal beforehand. Thats probably the cause of the delay in being drunk actually.

I'm drunk now. Just got back from a Loughborough (Pronounced: Loo-gah-bah-roo-gah) pub crawl.

Only did half a day though, had 7 pints and a curry.

Nothing like I could do in my past though, 16 pints, and still no hangover.

Getting old sucks :(

How old are you kirovman?

21.

Just two years ago I remember being hardcore drinker.

But now I've cut back on the drinking, and all my crazy activities.
I've become concerned about my future, and politics.
I discuss previously boring/uncool subjects with friends.

Quite frankly I'm worried about my changes.

I'm gonna be a family man... or something.

umm...this is sorta of topic and i dont drink

but you guys know what ale is and where it comes from?

Aftershock, f'kin awesome bud, along with Absinthe they're the two that really get you :) Apart from those two, the rest just get me the same old drunk jondy

I think there's only a certain concentration of alchohol that can be absorbed through the stomach lining; and so drinking after a meal doesn't get you really drunk until four hours later when the stuff starts getting into your bloodstream via digestion rather than absorption through the stomach

Heh, just came back from a party I stayed at over night and two people passed out on absinthe :P

In fact one of them coughed up blood when he was sick. But hes ok now. :rolling:

I only had one or two shots of the stuff and then just fosters so i'n fine. But my god they were gone. lol

Well woke up, no hangover :)
I'm not even feeling bad at all.

I guess I took the drinking at a reasonable and relaxed pace, while allowing time for food and drinking enough water.

ive certainly hit a peak of drinking...Now out-pacing all my mates (and im irish so i can beat the world!!!! \o/)

Kinda sucks though cos its harder to become kerazy!!! ah well - expensive nights out all the time for me anyways.

Yeah that's the thing.

My economy is much better than it used to be.
I rarely spend over a tenner a night now, when I used to be on £25 or something before.

When you get older you realise it's better getting drunk sooner, because it's cheaper, and you don't go over your limit without noticing so easily.

I remember being 16, it was cool to count how many units of alcohol you had(if you still could count by that stage!) and not be drunk yet. Not anymore though.

I went out last night and pretty much had a shit time. Had two shots of tequila, one shot of vodka, and five beers. The last shot did it for me, so I gracefully removed myself from the company of others, went down into the bathroom, and vomited without making too much of a scene. I felt pretty shit because that's the first time I ever puked in that bar and I usually require more than what I consumed to get ****ed up.

Any way, I guess I was subconsciously pissed off at something, because I was cursing all the time, yelling at people, snapping back, and I even hit a guy because I thought he took my cigarettes. Seeing as how nothing was going my way, I decided to leave early and caught a tram.

Then, midway on the tram ride, I feel I'm gonna puke again, so I get off. Fortunately, I didn't vomit. Unfortunately, I had to wait half an hour for another tram. So I slept on some metal benches in the freezing cold and allowed a thick sheet of snow to accumulate on my resting body until my ride came.

Wow, unlucky buddy, that doesn't sound so cool.

Kudos to you for getting to the bathroom tho', no-one need know the state you were in :) well, apart from the punching

Sabre001: Irish eh? One of my friends lets his house out every now and again, and one time this group of Irish people came over to stay. I'm not shitting you when I say these guys literally lived on Guinness. They'd get up in the morning and said owner of house would offer them some breakfast, and they'd decline, go down the pub and have a pint of the black stuff, keeping this going throughout the day. This happened for 3 days until they eventually stumbled onto the plane back home

after almost puking my guts out I haevnt been drinking any alcohol
I really dont need it
