I can't open Half-Life 2

I can't open Half-Life 2. I can open Counter-Strike: Source and play it. But, I can't open Half-Life 2. I click on it and nothing happens. Does anyone know what to do?

What do you mean nothing happens? Does steam say it's launching the game?
Or does it launch it, but the game doesn't run?

No, I click on the game icon and the mouse loads for a second and then nothing happens. But, do I need Steam?

Yes you do need Steam, pirated versions are not supported here. There are no good working pirated versions of Half Life 2. Do yourself a favour and BUY the Orange Box it's cheap and you get HL2 EP1,EP2,TF2 and Portal. Also do you know that buy playing a pirated version of Counter Strike Source you cannot play on legit Vac 2 servers which believe me are a lot better than the pirated servers. As anyone can cheat on pirated servers.
