i have a problem when actually running the game. when i try to start it, i get an error saying that the game .exe file is requesting to be shut down or something, then it crashes. i searched on this forum for "run", "error", "bug" and "crash" and i have found no-one here with a similar problem. i searched on google and out of about 10 sites i viseted only one had a similar problem, he says he has to wait for a patch. but i've heard that a patch isnt going to be released... which means two things: i hate activision, and i am stuck up shit creek without a paddle. i dont want to send this game back to gameplay and request a refund! what if the game gets lots in the post and i am left without a refund OR a game?

does anyone know ANYTHING that can help me? maybe i can boot it up from a console or something, or edit somerthing in the folder to make it work? i am NOT waiting for a patch, as i only have a certain amount of time before my gameplay warranty runs out.

my first impressions of this game: <censored for bad language>

*edit* ive downloaded a CDcrack, because obviously if its a problem with the .EXE, you could just replace the .exe with a crack and it should work right? but instead of an .exe the crack just contains a load of strange cog files, and it says to replace the ico or something... whats an ico?

# Make sure your system meets the minimum system requirements of the game.

# Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.

# Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.
1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
2) Click the Settings tab.
3) Set your screen area to 800x600.
4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.
5) Click Apply and OK.

# All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.

Try setting your sound acceleration to basic. Here is how to do this:

1) Click on the Start button and then Run.
2) In the box type: dxdiag
3) Click the OK button.
4) Click on the sound tab, and there should be a slider labeled sound acceleration near the bottom of the screen.
5) Move the slider down to basic and then press ok.

# This error may be related to having certain extensions for the Python SDK installed on your machine. To resolve this you can do any of the following:

This answer is for an Advanced user. Please do not attempt the below solution if you are not comfortable editing the Registry. Damaging the Registry could result in very adverse effects to your system. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

THE FOLLOWING FIX IS UNSUPPORTED BY ACTIVISION:

1) Go to start->run and type in Regedit and press enter. This will bring up the registry editor.
2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Python\Pythoncore\2.1\Pythonpath\WIN32 and click on the win32 folder
3) Go to the file menu at the top and select export
4) Choose a location, and then enter a name for the registry key backup
5) then delete the whole WIN32 folder inside the pythonpath folder.

Now close the registry editor and start the game. The problem should be fixed.

Making this change may affect other applications currently installed. If you notice something else you want to use is not working properly on your system after making this change simply locate the exported registry key you made and double-click on it. This will allow you to replace the key easily. Replacing this key will cause the same error message to appear with vampire. You will need to remove this key again if you wish to use the game. You should not need to create the exported key again unless you delete it manually.

im still pissed off though. i shouldnt have to do all that just to play a game... not only that but if something else goes wrong with a different program, i know its because i deleted an important program, and i'll have to replace it with the backup i created...
