I could really use a time machine right about now.

I once accidentally called a fat girl "fat" in front of her face :|

She asked something like "why doesn't so and so blah blah?" and I said "Because you're too fat OH SHIT--".

I've had things said to me, the were later regretted.

One time I took a friend of mine to a party to make her feel better after a breakup, then I got so drunk I ended up licking her arm haha. Needless to say, the next meeting was awkward for me but its all sweet and we're good friends now haha

Or brutally murder his wife and kids. You let him off the hook and teach him a valuable lesson about traffic signals! You solve future problems in a way that is much more morally sound!
I felt it necessary to let you all know that I laughed for a good minute after reading this.

hope this helps

I can definitely relate to the OP here, I've accidentally made mom jokes to people with dead moms, told sexist jokes in crowds of women, told dead baby jokes in front of sensitive types etc etc.. you name an awkward situation / stereotype and I've probably been involved in it. The key I think is to laugh it off and make sure people know you're joking. If they person(s) can't get over what you said even after apology then it's really not your problem anymore is it.

I've actually come to appreciate awkward and offensive misunderstandings, after the ensuing guilt and regular apology or whatever else is in order I just laugh it over to myself later. Don't bother being overly apologetic either - it just ends up seeming phony or overly emotional.

QFT

Never over apologise. Apologise once, and if they don't get over it they can **** off. Everyone one says stupid things from time to time. It's just the stupid people that get cut up about it.

Oh and to the person who said they licked their mates arm. Is that is? That should be the kind of normal interactions that happen between two people of different sex, whether intimately involved or not.
