i personally witnessed my friend beat the first zelda game in 1 hours 10ish minutes. i'm not sure if that's particularly great, but it seemed very fast to me. he did it on an emulator, with a junk controller and said he could do it even faster on a real nes.

very impressive. yea he probably spent a long time memorizing when each enemy or cannon ball would come on the screen and he was sure to jump before he saw it.

Not so impressive...

about 10 years ago I beat Super Mario Brothers in 5 minutes. and back then I played on a 4 inch TV. Never died, never got hit. Ran the entire way. no, not level by level, I used warp zones, but hey. still fast.

all you have to do is play it alot, SMB was one of three games I owned, so I played it about once a day. Start to finish.

I used to play this game, a lot. So i dont doubt this movie's authenticity.
I think this guy has a photographic memory, so he can memorize the levels with ease.
