Whats the difference if valve releases info on the game today or 6 or 7 days from now? please inform me why today and tomorrow are so important.

There isn't really a difference. The rumor was it would be on the 22, that has past so people automatically assumed that it HAD to be delayed.

im thinking... when a game gets delayed, how many days/weeks/months USUALLY does the delay get announced before the original release date?
has a game ever gotten THIS close to release, and the delay announcement then happens? if so what game company has done this?
hope that makes some sense

i think it would be a HORRIBLE marketing strategy, to announce a delay this soon..
now lets look at this.
a. who are we walking about?
valve..
b. is valve smart?
incredibly
c. is valve good at marketing there games?
people are still buying hl1...
d. since valve spent 5 years planning this epic return, would they f' it up?
no.
/ends interview with self.
'nough said.

by not f it up, i am including the fact that it won't be buggy, nor late.

but if valve had to choose whether to make the 30th release date and release with some bugs, OR delay it a few weeks and release it with the bugs taken care of, what do you think they would do? either way it counts as an F up from the community
I think 'c' has been more to do with Valve being in the right place at the right time, and the phenomenal success of Counterstrike. It's yet to be proved that Valve are crazy geniuses rather than pretty competent guys who got a bit lucky. 'd' remains to be proved - we know next to nothing about the game itself at the moment.Originally posted by Quotidian---

Gonna have bugs either way. As a lot of programmers say "the true life of the software begins when its released"

well that was steam. I don't think Valve would just let the 30th come and go. I could just imagine hearing this on Oct. 1st
"Oh yeah guys, sorry forgot to tell you Half-Life 2 has been delayed. Sorry."
That would just be stupid.
