I know we are two very different countries, but we are right beside each other. Why do I think that our relationship is getting worse? I mean our leaders never visit each other, we seem to disagree more than we agree, and both populations don't understand each others country...this sucks :(.

I'm not going to blame one country or the other because that's just wrong. What the hell are we supposed to do? I mean, both of our economies are not going anywhere. I think were stuck like this for a long time to come.

Its ideological differences, pure and simple. Once either of us gets a party in power that more closely matches the other, things will start to return to normal.

Its because of current events. Canada doesnt support the war that the US is in. And besides, we two countries constantly make fun of eachother. Its like England and France, France and Belgium and Russia and the Ukraine.

Edit: Now that I think of it. EVERY country has a Canada.
USA > Canada
Canada > Greenland
South America > Brazil
England > Europe

I for one love Canada. and want to live there.

I don't get it??

Mainly because I agree with your country's politics.

Well...our politics are kind of messed up right now...but it entirely depends on which province you live in..each province is very different from each other.

May I ask why you would like to live in Canada. I personally wouldn't mind living in the US.
Get out of my country.

Canada and the US make fun of each other. Get a situation where something comes up like WWII and you'll see us standing side by side.

We're like siblings. We fight and squabble but we really love each other <3

Same with France and England. *mumbles something about scared frogs*

I jest, I jest.

spread the love! :D
The only thing I can remember that happened between USA and Canada was when some Canadians booed a bunch of American hockey kids. And that was a while ago.

THATS BECAUSE YOU GUYS HAD OUR FLAG ON THE FLOOR OF YOUR CHANGING ROOM!

not gunna point any blame at just one nation because were all a little screwed up one way or another. but things like the softwood lumber incident (for lack of a better word) generally leaves a bad taste in canadian's mouths, it's not just about the softwood lumber, but it's also princible.

Your drunk. Go home.

The guy was talking about the Olympic games in Salt Lake City with the Womens Hockey team...yes they did have the Canadian flag on the ground in their dressing room, but it was only there because they wanted to be reminded of what they had to face. It's true...saw it on the news.

Which brings me to my next point: everything the internet tells you is true.

It's OK as far as I can see. But I can't see very far, so I dunno.

I was watching T.V. last week and I saw 3 independent American programs where they ripped Canada. Yeah, U.S. citizens sure do like to make fun of their northern friends.

I've pretended to be a Canadian more than a few times.

Apparently that works well for French people in England, too. Heard it from a French guy.

huh? you mean the french in england pretend to be french canadian? oh but the accent is a world of difference

Surprisingly enough we don't get much experience with French-Candanian accents over here.

hehe ya I guess not ...it's just that I wouldnt have a problem distinguishing from french creole, to parisienne to french canadian ..but I guess I'm more exposed to different forms of french

The french are not the only ones who thought about seperating from Canada. The western province..which will remain nameless, alberta, was fed up because the federal government is so far away, they think they don't have an impact on the western provinces. And the Alberta preimer who will remain nameless, ralph klein, Is a dipshit. There is one thing good about him. Because he has a drinking problem, it shows that politicians are still human beings with their own problems. Unfortunatly, he shouldn't be running the province at all. Most people are blaming him for the High gas prices in Alberta. The people are saying "We got all this oil and are gas prices are still sky high." Well...NEWSFLASH!! The oil we have is extremely hard to get to. We would have to spend billions of dollars to get it out of the ground, (that's not a lot of money for Alberta), Alberta alone almost has as much money as the federal government. Last year Alberta got a surpluss of 8 Billion Dollars. Ralph klein is good at making money, but he's bad of putting it to good use.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Apparently it gets a much warmer response for our froggy friends than admitting "ahm Fruuuuurnsh!!" *twirl moustache and rattle garlic necklace*.

Like Feeth said, we're not too good at telling the difference. I couldn't tell you the difference between a US or Canadian accent, either :O And I might just be more likely to be more friendly to someone that told me they were Canadian as opposed to American  but then Canada puts out some great metal, so I have a legit personal bias

:O ...it's easy ...we use words like: tarnations, grits, jebus, armageddon far less than americans do ;)

great canadian metal? are you sure? cant think of any metal canadian bands ...***sh? (not really metal) ...ummm I Mother Earth?

Canada should put communists in power. That would show them! :D I bet Bush would invade, though.

US invades Canada. Man, that would be something to see. Tanks rolling down the streets of Toronto. I really don't know how that would turn out, I mean we Canadians couldn't do much from a military or political standpoint. I wonder if any other countries would help?

Oh yeah, Canada-US relations have always been rather poor. Until something like the 1930's, there was a general belief that Canada should have been part of the States. (I wrote an essay about all this for civics class).

Yeah, we tried to take it a few times during periods of war but the British managed to hang on.

Yep, good old War of 1812. Burnt down the White House, partially anyways. Good thing we still had the British to help us back then. I get the feeling it won't go so well next time.

You do realise that Canada, wasn't "Canada" in 1812. It was the British that did that.

We did invade canada...
thats if the South Park Movie came to life.
