You do realise that Canada, wasn't "Canada" in 1812. It was the British that did that.
Yeah, but, correct me if I'm wrong, the area was still called Canada (Upper and Lower). This was established by the Constitutional Act of 1791. And yes, I do know that it was a British colony and used British troops during the war.

And actually, Laura Ingersoll Secord originally from Massachusetts, the wife of an United Empire Loyalist, overheard American Soldiers who had occupied their home talking about attacking Lt. Fiztgibbon as Beaverdams.
Her husband, wounded in battle, could not undertake the journey. So she set off alone to warn the British Forces.
20 miles and 18 hours later, having braved the wilderness and evading American patrols, she encounted Native forces allied with the British. As a result, the Native forces, under the command of John Norton and Dominique Ducharme, ambushed the invading Americans and defeated them at the Battle of Beaverdams, June 24, 1813.

Had the Americans taken Beaverdams, they would've controlled the entire Niagra Penisula and had a significant foothold on the region.

And as far as the relationship between our two countries, it's always been sort of less than harmonious. I mean, let's face it, we don't approve of a lot of things your government does, and you don't approve of what our government does... and you see us a pacifists, and we see you as over-aggressive.

There's also a tendancy for Americans to undervalue Canada, and for Canada to be too dependant on America. 60% of Canadians feel that we are your closest ally, and only 18% of Americans agree.

We have a tendancy to fee unappreciated, overlooked, taken advantage of, and generally ignored as irrelevant.

Comments by people such as Tucker Carlson and Bill O'Reilly, and incidents like the Softwood Lumber dispute, and the Devil's Lake Project, the Sumas Power Plant, all make us feel like you don't give a damn about us.

It's just very saddening and discouraging.

And this is all very much a generalization.

There will be a test on this at the end of the semester. Class dismissed. :p

Correct..we actually care about the citizens who actually live in the Country :E. Our major spending goes to healthcare.

Celine Dion!!???? I hate that woman! I hope she becomes a non-Canadian citizen...actually she already has.

And lets not forget that Canada has the best trained Army in the world, and the best trained Air force pilots in the world. We prove that by beating the Americans (among other countries) in a air supriority competiton that's held in Cold Lake Air force base every couple years.

I don't know if I should be angered by your ignorance or laughing at your humor.

Please tell me if this was meant to be sarcasm or not.

I know we are two very different countries, but we are right beside each other. Why do I think that our relationship is getting worse? I mean our leaders never visit each other, we seem to disagree more than we agree, and both populations don't understand each others country...this sucks

I want a divorce!

Hey from the site's hatemail.. what's the issue with none of them understanding the word secession?

http://www.invadecanada.us/comments.html

More towards the bottom like 3 in a row don't understand it. Is it not a common word there? Or is it the French people not understanding or what?

let me guess, because they're french they must be stupid

oh and succession would never happen ...we dont want to become like you

I was implying a language barrier

He wasn't talking about succession in the first place, he was saying secession, as in the South tried to, he was relating it to Quebec. Then they said "LOL YOU SPELLED SUCCESSION WRONG!" in a manner similar to maddox's "IT'S NOT SPELLED INANE IT'S SPELLED INSANE" responses (I get what you're trying to say as in 'following through' but still the people are being pretty retarded.)

yes that goes without saying ..I find it funny that there's hatemail at all ...I mean who cares what someone thinks ...especially when some of the criteria in comparing the 2 countries is so idiotic

They think it's real, which is why they send it. Which is what makes it funny. :(.

But the same goes for all kinds of sites and not just for ones like this, where people think it's real and get in an uproar. Example: Bonsai Kitten

How I personally think a lot of Americans feel about Canada:

It's just a friendly poking. I love to make fun of Canadians, and I'm guessing that Canadians enjoy making fun of me. (It's only fair.) I love making fun of your goofy accents, your jacked up provinces, and your rediculous no hand-gun laws.

But if Canada was invaded by another country, you bet your ass I would sign up and defend our brothers in the north.

Same here...but only to protect the EXTREME CANADIAN BACON.

Yeah. I think of the movie Canadian Bacon as the reason Michael Moore was put here. Then that was the extent of his skill, and the rest is just crap.

All feelings about/towards Michael Moore from ANYONE aside, I thought it was a great comedy.

nothing wrong with canada. i can respect manly men in plaid who enjoy their maple syrup and whale blubber.

likely to be more friendly to someone that told me they were Canadian as opposed to American

Course, you should'nt be choosey -- I play with a lot of Canadians online over Halo 2, and we have a lot fun despite me being an American; and you know what? The topics never come up because we could care'less'a'shit about whats going on in the world.

Were just growing up, trying to find ourselves before the world finds us; and thats what life should be.
