I figured out why Gabe doesn't post here anymore

I registered at the HL2 fallout site to check out why they may be different, and why Gabe may feel like he can express himself there, and no longer here.

My conclusion?

I believe it's because Gabe is a gutless coward, (though not literally gutless for sure) and the folks participating on that other site are mindless sheep. :O That's right, I said it. :flame:

They don't have tough questions...they don't have complaints about being lied to...they are so mild mannered no one would get any amount of stress going into their house and pissing on their carpet.

These type of threads don't contribute to anything and are annoying! He posts at Fallout mainly because of threads like these. I checked out Fallout forums and the mood is calm there - unlike members like you calling Gabe a coward because you didn't get to pre-load Half-Life 2, which isn't going to effect you in anyway except knowing you have textures, audio from Half-Life 2 on your computer, which is pretty sad. Get over yourself, the members of HL2 Fallout are not mindless sheep, they just know a bit of common courtsey and that things happen in the world which can't be prepared for and may have consequences that people don't like - and they deal with it.

If you are really sitting in front of your computer and getting angry because a file that you cannot do anything with has not been released and because you wasting your own time (Valve aren't making you sit there, you could be doing something else) then find something to do. I'm not saying "omfg u loser, get a life you nerd!111", christ i spend most of my time on here. Just find something productive to do, you'll feel better for it rather than waiting for nothing (which it essentially is what you are downloading)

Things happen, deal with it and shut up, crying like babies isn't going get the file out any quicker and it isn't going to gain any favour with Valve, although wherever information is posted it doesn't matter. It doesn't gain any more or less credibility or importance, so long as the source is Valve everyone is a winner.

Gabe doesn't post here because he prefers to post at HL2Fallout. Just like you prefer to post here instead of HL2W0rld. Just like I prefer to drink coffee instead of tea.

To top it all off, he probably also doesn't post here because of the many shallow and spiteful comments he gets about his weight. According to an interview, he once got e-mailed by a community member (probably here, and if so I am so ashamed) saying something along the lines of "lose weight you fat bastard". Is it really any surprise he'd rather post somewhere that respect him for who he is, rather than poking fun and abusing him all the while.

I think some of you have missed my point...it's not about the preload, and I don't think I am owed anything by VALVe...until they give out specifics for me to look for. In the past they were great about keeping their mouths shut about HL2 and any date of completion. It's when they decided to give specifics that they started to anger me. Valve isn't trying to wind fans up, they're trying to find a balance between keeping in touch with the community and ensuring the accuracy of released information. You wanted them to become more proactive, you wanted direct involvement into the development process - this is what you've got (and how many other devs post regularly on fan forums). Developing a game is by it's very nature a 'hit and miss' process. You can't expect every target to be hit, every estimate to be 100% accurate. This is the real world. If people would just calm down and stop being so on edge we wouldn't have these problems. Adopt a wait and see attitude and actually show some common courtesy with regards to information that is being given to you freely.

Personally, I think HL2.net has really deteriorated. It used to be a bastion to intelligent discussion. Now interesting debates are few and far between.
