I beat Half-Life in one sitting!!!! In one day!!!

I played it through on hard and it took me 5 hours.

And even though its around my 35th time playing through it. I managed to find things I'd never seen before!

Like how there are some places where you can use the barnicals to get a REALLY big short cut.

One of these days I'll have to figure out how to do the DEMO thing so I can record myself playing through.

I think my next challange will be to get through the game without dying once. I only died about 6 or 7 times this time through on hard, so mabie if I try it on easy and nothing stupid happens (deaths you cant do anything about :( ) I might be able to do it!

Nice!
I probably hold the record for longest playthrough, started in march when HL2 was announced, and played little bits and finally finished it in december :D

I can tell you how to record a demo :D. Here:

1. Go to your console while playing by pushing ~ (right next to 1). If you don't have a console, you can get it by creating a shortcut to Half-Life, and in the command line, add "-console", without quotes. (Make sure there is a space between "-console" and everything else there.)

2. Type in "record DEMONAME", without quotes, then push enter. For example, if I wanted to record a demo named "fast", I would write "record fast".

3. When you are done recording the demo, type "stop" (without quotes) into the console. This will end the recording.

4. When you want to play it back, type into the console "viewdemo DEMONAME", without quotes. An example would be "viewdemo fast".

That's all there is to it :E, hope this helps.

Wow cool! thanks, diddn't know it was that easy xD! now I can record clan matches... w00h00

I finished Half-Life in 2 sittings (5 hours? wtf.. thats insane) but I killed every enemy, and found all secrets, and I didnt die.
but it took me 2 days.
as I said I like getting the most out of my games, since I dont know if I will play it through again (I do this with all games)

I remember when Quake first came out, and I saw some guys playing it on LAN in South Africa.
they were challenging people to beat this one kid who was a senior (I was a freshman at the time) since he had a huge ego, he took on anyone.

first time I ever played, and I spanked him hardcore... thats what really got me hooked on FPS in general, everyday he would come back and we would have another match to see if he could beat me.

it started with him asking for challengers, and then asking what the challenger wanted in terms of special rules or level selection....
then he started demanding to play on levels that were secret levels (that I had never heard of at the time) and I still beat him

then he asked for 2 on one, then teams etc etc.
he beat me once, but I wasnt allowed the rocket launcher and it was shub's pit and I wasnt allowed the quad powerup.
hehe

man that was fun.

err the point of the ramble was err... well I remember when I was REAAALLY into games and I would play through Quake as fast as possible, and without losing 1HP.
sad I know, but I did it, think it took me like 6hrs, although I cant really remember.

ye my m8 records CS movies all the time. he DLed 20 mb worth of stuff at my house just to see a short demo :( he is a gamer obsessed :/
oh and id like to say anyone who has completed HL 35 times is either really really bored, really really sad, really really obsessed, really really misunderstood or all of them combined into a suprenerd. Well done ;) i have completed it 2wice!!

Nice one, Fender. You must have been doing some intensive gaming that day :p

I still haven't finished it. :o

Someone with a lot of time want to go through the whole game with me Sven Co-op style tonight?

I don't know how many times I've played through...sure as hell ain't 35, but between half a dozen and a dozen.

Wow you really should, definitley before HL2 comes out! :P

Guess what I just did(last night)...I beat Nihilanth without using cheats!! It was so easy too, it took me about 15 minutes. Before when I tried beating him I was on a computer that met the system requirments but not the recommended(I had a voodoo 3) I also had a crappy mouse.

I've done this for 2 of my friends. (not the Sven Coop thing, just telling them what to do)

I can tell you EXACTLY what to do, step by step all the way through, in great detail.

I could probably write the game up as a document ( i bet other people have done this already though)

I can basicly run through the entier game in my head. Pick a spot in the game and I can tell you whats after it and before it. ( it would be more impressive in person :E )

Nope, I started the game in Summer 2001 and just finished about 6 months ago :) Although, it was because I got glitched at Gonarch and I didn't know about noclip at the time

Well.... I did it agin!!!!

I just played through it on Easy in 3 hours and 15 minutes.

I tryed recording it, but it didn't work.

I think it doesn't work because you keep loading new maps as you go through.

Yeah, thats probably it.... poo.....

Does it convert into some kind of video file? Or can it only be viewed in the game?

It comes out as Jpegs or BMPs if I'm not mistaken. Then you manually put the movie together using a photo suite.
