I Found a wallet today!

I remember once giving ?40 to some homeless guy. I remember I had some idea about getting a game or something, anyway, I saw him and I just decided he needed it more. My dad was pretty flabberghasted, I was actually taken back by how seemingly petty he seemed about ?40 I could afford to lose.

Least my mate was understanding, I was just like" no worries man, I'll get the game in a few weeks or next month or something, no rush".

"Meh! Who needs that money anyway eh..? After all, I'm so rich..I can afford an awesome com to play crysis..and"

Just kidding.. :)

I'm surprised at all the people saying "I would have done the same".

Empathy is awesome ;)

...and while we're talking about good deeds, here's one from two years back:

I was on my way home from the shopping centre at around 7 when I came across a lost boy, he told me that he was on his way to "?gstedveien 104" but he didn't know where it was. I told him that I'd go home and check the address (because I've never heard of a street called that, and he seemed very distressed) but the quick internet search proved to be fruitless. I grabbed my phone, hopped back on my bike and rode back to him informing him of the results and offering to let him use my phone. He dialled his mum's number (awesome memorisation skills tbh) but nobody answered, so we started re-tracing his steps to where his dad had dropped him off.

We then chose to walk "home", apparantly it wasn't too far and we got there within about 15 minutes, but nobody was there. Luckily his mother then arrived and all was fine. Turns out he was supposed to be at "Postveien 104", which is the road we walked along on the way home. She insisted that I have 100 kroner (equivalant $10) for my troubles and we did the whole "Nah, it's okay", "Go on, I insist", "No, don't worry about it" routine until I finally gave up and received the money.

Don't think about the positives, obsess over the negatives.

You just lost 120 dollars.

:)

I was hoping he'd give me all the cash considering i could have just taken it all and returned it with no money. Ohh well.

he gave you $80, that's a pretty good reward imho ...found a wallet when I was 11 with my 2 brothers ..it had $500 in it but we returned it to it's rightful owner and recieved nothing in return

Wow, why do so many people walk around with so much cash in their wallets? The most I have is about a tenna, just pay for everything with my debit card really.

Dam good thing you did there.

I've lost my wallet twice, and its such a bloody annoyance. First you lose cash, then you gotta cancel all your cards/get them again, buy new wallet + the cheek that someone has not to give it back to you when they can easily find out whos it is.

You got 80 quid/bucks/moneys out of it aswell which is karma free:cool:

I have a one dollar bill in my wallet.

I've gone to considerable lengths to return phones and wallets as I worked in a nightclub where the policy was to give lost items to management (who stole it) so I used to sneak outside and try and ring a friend of the phones owner to collect their phone.

However, one time I saw a girl drop 10quid and stood on it so she wouldn't see it, however my friend made me give it back. I put that incident down to tiredness.

This is one reason why I don't have a wallet. Probably due to lack of credit cards, but also I only ever have 3GBP so it will just go in my shirt pocket, nice and safe.

You certainly did the right thing.
This was one of the 'moral dilemas' we were discussing in college. The question was about this exactly: if you found a wallet filled with money would you keep it or return it? Everyone said the right answer (that they'd return it).
That is exactly what I'd've done as well. :)

Nice one :)

I would've done the same, rewards are nice too, but I wouldnt expect one.

take the 200 dollars - give it back - If he asks why there's 200 bucks missing, say "it was like that when i found it. i'm sorry" - if he doesnt ask... well... hope that he never finds you again

Definitely the best thing to do. Loosing your wallet sucks, and its terrible having to freak out over it and call your banks and credit card companies to stop everything. One time at a fireworks show some guy had dropped his wallet, luckily i saw it before he left and gave it back to him. He gave me some money for it as well. If there is ever a way to find out who the wallet/money belongs to, then i would definitely do what i can to get it back to them.

Nice one, must have been tempting.

I found a wallet on a train once. Little old lady had just gotten out of the seat I was sitting in, so I figured it must have been hers. Being the morally upright youngster that I was, I chased her down quickly before the train left... only for her to let me keep it. Like, the whole wallet. It only had about 2 bucks in it, but it was a damn nice wallet, I hung onto it for quite a while. :D

Come to think of it though, I don't really remember there being any cards or such in there, so maybe she left it behind intentionally for someone else to find and hang onto......

Maybe it was cursed. D:
