Hi

In the apartmen scene i found something new i dont have noticed before.

Link

A man who is standing down the stairs, look at your E3 2004 video, and you can see it for your self. I recommend to see it on the better quality video, Half-Life 2 E3 2004 Presentation (PC Games)

Wow, a man!

I don't mean to flame, but I don't think this was such a big revelation to create a whole new thread around it. :)

I know, im stupid. Is just that i have seen so many pointless thread here. So i just want to share something i have seen.... :p

The citizens have the capability to walk up and down stairs (!) (?) (NO).

OH NOES !!1
what i guessed of the storyline is all wrong then !!!!!!1111 :O :O

Thats actually the Metrocop with a stunbaton who you saw walking down the corridor prior to the screenshot

I think it's a combine soldier whos blocking that doorway so you cant get through. so the only way you can go is upstairs. I wish you get more "freedom" in the rest of the game.

Heh come on guys, back down, no need to get sarcastic on him :)

But yeah, it's a bit pointless :p

DId you actually take your CAMERA and take a pic of the screen??? why dont you just hit PRNT SCREEN on your keyboard?? it takes a screenshot. then you go to paint and hit EDIT PASTE and there ya go with better quality.

Since we're on the subject on the E3 2004 vid, can anyone explain whats the point of the split second picture of the room at 20 min 41 seconds in the vid?

I was thinking the same thing.

Well it's more interesting than a million locked doors. Especially seeing as Source should allow you to blow open wooden doors with ease.

Harryz - the split second pic is, as far as I can tell, another scene similar to the one just before it (zombies, wooden shack, etc.) that was cut from the gamespy vid. After all, Tunnels was cut from Gamespy's E3 2003 vid, so I'm assuming something similar is going on.

wow you had good eye
Had? RJMC, have you been stealing eyes from people again? EH? We talked about this, y'know. You promised you would never do it again! Now give the nice man his eye back!

you'll actually find if he did his print screen the video window would just pop up as a black box due to the renderer being used...

If its the quicktime version of the shakey cam vids, when you printscreen, then print, the picture doesn't show up, black. The same thing happens when you close the quicktime window, it some how doesn't keep the picture pasted in the panit window

whoever the man in the pic is..........i dont think hes stupid enough to take a screenshot using a bloody phone camera.

jeez louise.

You could do it via Windows Media Player or something right? :|

or just use an app to cap the image .. but thats not the point .. we were just slating the bloke thinking he was ' in the know ' with print screen ¬_¬

Oh, english aint your first language? Sorry I assumed it was. You've got better english then most of the people I know.:)

Nope. Directshow draws the video stream on an alternate backbuffer and keys out the primary buffer when blitting the video to the screen. That's why you get the black screen. You're capturing the app and the color key, not hte video stream. If you want to capture directshow feeds you need to turn off hardware acceleration in your video card options. Typically it's a slider under the 'troubleshoot' option of your monitor settings. That will force the video stream to be rendered (along with the rest of what you see on the sceen) by your processor only. If you have a slow processor the video may seem choppy. Go to the point where you want to take your pic and prnt scrn it. Set your video hardware acceleration back when done.

So, through the joyous events of this thread, we have finally come to the conclusion that :
1. There are people inside Half Life 2.
2. It is not a good idea to use a camera to take a photo of your screen.
3. It is not possible to take a 'PrtScn' of a quicktime video.

Aren't we all glad that we visit this forum?

If it'd stuck to point one and a bit more vid examination, as excrutiating as that might be, it would be okay. But no, it descended into to mobile phone gubbins and screen grab gubbins.
At least it's not the thread about the RPG laser <Shudders>

HOW did you spot him, anyway ?!
i can't see the guy even though he SEEMS to be there
