I got a skin............

But it only shows up in half life 2 not Gmod.I want to put it in gmod.How do i do this

I assume you put the skin in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\half-life 2\hl2\materials

Just put it in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\gmod9\materials instead.

well it said in the readme that i just install it and play Gmod or half life 2.But it just shows up in Half life 2.I havnt tried putting it in any other folders.Ill try Sparda's Idea

erm, mabye theres more than materials... wait no cant be. If thats the problem, youve been bugged.

What the skin is for (Alyx skin, zombie skin ect)
&
What folders are in the ZIP/RAR.

Then I will have a better chance of helping you.

I doubt it's a model as it worked in HL2 unless it was a well done model with it's own animations,That I doubt.

who makes well done models. Its a sken, we can narrow it down. different skins have different names, if it is hexed(Which i think it is since its on half life 2) i think you have to put it in youre gmod9/materials/gmod9 Folder. not just the materials folder.

You have to put stuff for the models into the materials folder, the models folder then add a menu option in the system_props folder.
