I got preauricular sinus. That is a hole above my ear opening. :(

Look at my condition...

Take a closer look.

Of course, it is there since I was born. Yet, I read a medical article lately. It said that preauricular sinus can become inflammatory. If inflammation occurs, surgical removal of the sinus is required after taking antibiotics so as to prevent re-infection. Surgical removal of the sinus might damage facial nerve, which could paralyse the patient's face.

Recently, I managed to drain a small amount of pus from the hole(sinus). Although the perimeter of my ear did not hurt, I am afraid that the pus indicated the likelihood of a sinus infection in the near future. Do anyone of you have the same condition? If so, have your preauricular sinus ever went infected? Share your experience.

You're going to be okay buddy!

Facial paralysis might not be that bad. You might end up with a permanent cool face.

I thought it is a common condition (~1% population have it). It is not cancer, anyway. :p

Yeah, that's what I read too, that it's fairly common. That's why you're going to be okay!

Just don't stick Q-tips down there. Unless you're supposed to. But don't stick toothpicks down there!

I just stuck some cotton wire in it out of curiosity. I think I should not do it again or it will go infected.

Have you seen a doctor or are you just self diagnosing? It might just be one of those freckle things.

Also, Burn the freak!!!

ah, its kinda arousing :naughty:
Im sure tollbooth would do it.

-dodo

Can't you just superglue the hole shut?? also is it on both ears??

Yes you are an INFECTED, you are the Hearer and you have apparently not been removed from society.

/unread thread.

must suck to have to use 4 fingers when covering your ears

Maybe if you'd had it removed 10 years ago it would have been bad, but medicine is getting better all the time - just find a good doctor and you'll be fine, don't stress too much.
