I practiced those questions you guys posted for me and wrote down my answers in Word and basically practiced them all day until the interview came. I got there and there were TONS of people getting an interview. At first, i was pretty nervous seeing all these people there but then one of the people i knew from highschool came inline for the interviews too and gave me some pointers. He told me that some other people we both new from highschool worked there and gave me a run-down of what to expect. So i was eventaully called, recited the answers i memorized, then the next thing i knew they were telling me they would start me off at 8.50 as a computer salesman. They also said advancement is very frequent. The waiting took about 45 mins and the actual interview was around 15.
here are some of my answers/questions they actually asked that i had to use, hope this helps anyone going on an interview soon:
Why do you want to work at this store?
I’ve been coming to this fry’s since I was in 8th grade buying electronics parts to fix my computer and whatnot so I’ve always liked the casual dress of the employees and the neat themes of the Fry’s buildings. I’ve always thought that this place would be a really neat place to work at. And also because fry’s deals with technology, I would fit right into a place like this.
What do you feel you can bring to this store?
Well I can definitely bring persistence and self-reliance to fry’s. An example of this would be that fact that all of the programs listed on my resume, other than Maya which I learned at CCOC, I taught myself how to use. I’m definitely capable of grasping new concepts and ideas more easily than others. And definitely with my programming experience I’ve learned to follow instructions to the letter because when you’re working with a computer, there is no room for error. A computer doesn’t know how to compromise or work with things that are half-done. And along with this I’ve learned to be great at trouble-shooting problems and figuring out solutions.
What do you think is required to improve the stores image?
Well I think the most important thing would to give great customer service. The last thing you would want is a customer to remember the poor service they received and go to a competing store instead. Although I’m going to be one member in an entire team that makes up Fry’s, I feel that the actions of one individual can negatively or positively effect the entire image of the team. So I feel it’s very important for each member to pull more than there share of the weight.
