I cant for the love of god find out how to completely remove windows media player 9. Messenger wont install either. Why is MS doing this to us? They are the most evil corporation i can think of right now, it really makes me want to jump to Mac instead. At least there you can remove a program completely without even a hint of trace of that program from the computer. Just delete the folder in which in contains.

Not so with my XP system. I have tried and tried to remove this pest from the system, after all there are other media players that can handle just as well as media player 9. Its all fine if you have the option to remove it, but no, evil bill makes it incorporated into the OS! For Christs sakes. Someone needs to stop that man before he takes over the whole damn world!

So... does anyone have a hack, trick or app that lets you remove unwanted windows components completely?

MS is a bit like Steam. The only problems with them is down to the user not knowing how to do things.

eh, that's not quite fair chris_d, there are some legit problems with windows..

anyway, it can be done ruben, the same way you can remove ms messenger, etc..
hold on, i'll find it for you..

yeah, here: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1010069240
anoyances.org is a very exhaustive database of problems, i generally reference it when i have some issue i can't solve. there's certainly a windows knowledge base article about it too. hope this helps :)

That's why I love Amiga OS.

Don't want a program? Select all it's bits and delete 'em :E.

Well, generally, anyway...

That's what you get for ever upgrading from windows 95. Now THAT was a quality OS.

Just get xplite, it lets you remove anythin, I managed to get XP to only take up 600mb!!!! after clearin all of the junk out

whats so wrong with WM? is it somesort of virus, come on whats the problem?

its a bulky program, that is ugly... i myself like sleek programs like... winamp, bsplayer, media player classic, etc.

- plus those windows programs that they hate usually take up more space then a non-windows program

I can't understand why you want to get rid of WMP, even if you don't use it normally, it's good for backup purposes. Also IE and other programs use components of WMP so it's not such a good idea to get rid of it.
