I live in Oklahoma. I grew up here went to OU and start Dental School here on June 28th. I have pretty bad allergies. Well if any of you guys are from the midwest you know of or have experienced the anti-meth laws that are being imposed in several states. Basically the selling of Pseudophed or anything with it in it (excluding anything in gelcap form) is somewhat restricted. It has to be behind a pharmacy counter and can only be sold if a pharmicist is working. You have to give your name, DL number, address, phone, etc if you haven't bought it at that location before. Then every time you buy it you must sign something stating it is for you and no one else yadda yadda yadda. It makes a 30 sec transaction usually exceed 5 minutes, and some of the products containing pseudophed have gone up in price due to the reduced sales. You also can only buy one box for some period of time (I don't remember how long).

I understand the thought behind the law. Sure I'm sure it does reduce meth usage some by reducing production, but it is a huge inconvenience to those who truly need the product. Considering druggies mean about as much to me as the lint left behind on my a-hole when I wipe I could care less if they want to poison themselves. I guess I'm about freedom of choice. When I say druggy I don't mean your local potsmoker. I mean the type that will rob you or basically try to sell their baby for drugs etc. My main question is why not just let natural selection run its course? Why not let a little bleach hit the gene pool to weed out the worthless scum of society?

I'm pretty conservative politically but I think the War On Drugs is a huge waste of time, money, and resources. Let people do what they want until it hurts someone else. Then step in and lay the smack down. I guess I'm more of a Libertarian but that would be a wasted vote. Why not use all the money that is used enforcing worthless laws like this for rehabilitation programs, support groups, job placement programs and other assistance. It might help some of the more worthless individuals of society graduate up to someone is important to their community. I don't completely not care about them. I just don't care until they make some effort to make some positive changes.

I'm not claiming to be perfect either. I was a pothead in HS. I just grew up. Luckily I wasn't stupid enough to do crank or anything like some of my "friends". Everyone get's where they are in life by their own choices so why not just let them make them?

Sorry for the rant BTW. I was just in a line of about 6 or 7 other people at the pharmacy about 2 hours ago. Wouldn't you know everyone of us wanted some pseudophed. I was last in line and waited about 25 min before even starting my transaction. :rolling:

I completely agree with you. I personally have never even considered doing drugs, but I believe we should all be able to decide for ourselves. Simply put, I don't think victimless crimes should exist in a free society, especially when we have to waste resources in countering them.

...wow...15 minutes...

I feel the pain.

The fact is it should taken 5 min not 30. I don't like restrictions on being able to easily medicate myself.

It's an unfortunate consequence that occurs when a large amount of people commit crimes that are linked to their drug habits, thus inducing us to legislate morality.

i'm not sure if those drugs actually contain pure methamphetamine.. but I coul dbe wrong.

No they don't contain meth, they contain one of the ingredients used to manufacture it. A fun bit of trivia is that meth is actually a great decongestant as a side effect.

You know, I have horrible alergies that not even that stuff behind the counter or prescription medication will help with... You just gave me an idea.
