HOW DARE THEY CAPITALIZE ON DA BEATLES HALF OF THEM ARE DEAD HOW DARE THEY

Meh, how is this any worse than making a best-of CD or TV special. It's celebrating his work.

But he's not even in the freakin ground yet! I have had it up to here with activision's bull **** marketing and they think they can do what they ****ing please! :flame:

I really could care less, on MTV and VH1 they are showing tons of MJ videos right now... they are making money off of that too...

it's not like it's the freakin messiah. I'm sure there's a ton of comany rethinking their MJ strategies today. I mean every single program shown on tv last night even remotely related to MJ did it for the money/ratings. why else would they do it. why are video game companys any different? everyone will cash in on MJ's death, it's the way business works; you see an opportunity you seize it before someone else does

Yes because they can do what the "****ing please." Why are you so worked up over this? Also, goddamn the Gamespot forums are a chore to read, I think I'd rather gouge my eyes out with an icepick.

the thing is why they havent made a game when he was alive?

Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker. It was an arcade game and a Sega Genesis (MegaDrive) game, and it totally sucked. They even had it as a free game that came with the Genesis at one point.

I don't think that is true. Shows were stopped in a normal schedule, just to play those music videos. If anything, they were loosing money, and tributing a great musician.

^ It doesn't matter, they are a paid service, thus, profit the same either way. They aren't losing anything. They hope to solidify their viewers by providing them with an outlet to vent their sadness. Part of the definition of music is that it summons emotions from the listener. It's even easier to do that when the music stands for something. Like the death of a 35+ career years pop star. ****ing MJ made MTV what it is today back in the 80's.

But if they didn't do that, don't you think that their status as a Music Channel (Only talking about MTV) would be looked at weird, since a "King of Pop" just died?

And the shows that were scheduled to play. Wouldn't you think the actual show companies would be angry? Unless MTV had some kind of deal in this sort of situation, if a musical figure died. Idk. It just doesn't seem like MTV wanted to make money there. I don't know about VH1 though.

Damn why don't they just buy his corpse and sell pictures of him naked while they are at it .

Humans = Ferengi

Read the rest of my post because I added some stuff.

No, MTV has their own film studio. Those shows are owned by MTV. And this is huge news. They'll just reschedule the shows for tomorrow or whatever.

I am pretty sure they did RJMC

but I am talking about modern games

since there was the guitar hero the beattles stuff and next where van halen and mettalica why where there wasnt a michael jackson one when he was alive

Just put some silver sequins on that bitch and it's a hit.

Oh. I guess I see what your going at now. Yeah I was wrong.

Okay ;)

I really don't see what the fuss is. If I was a gamer and a big fan of his, I'd be excited about this news. It's celebrating his work. Who gives a shit if they like him or not. I bet you loads of developers on FPSs don't like guns, does that mean they should just scrap the game? If someone that doesn't like chocolate hands you some, do you throw it away?

You obviously never played the arcade version of the game. It was AMAZING. The Genesis version wasn't that good, but if you're actually going to tell me you thought the arcade version of Moonwalker was a bad game you're a terrible human being and I don't think we can be friends anymore.

What they need to do is release the arcade version as a downloadable game on home consoles. In HD. With the Moonwalker movie as a bonus.

*squeal* :)

If you guys look on amazon.com in the music section under best sellers, you will see 15 mj albums at the top. This is to be expected and I see nothing wrong with this. I'm sure the same thing happened when Elvis died. It's a good way of letting today's generation remember a legend that is now lost. Besides guitar hero is all about enjoyed selling out artist's trying to make extra bucks on their own music. Also I'm sure MJ would have no problem with this deal, since he uses a beatles song in a nike commerical one time.

I never played the arcade version. I was a poor poor child with no quarters.

I have a copy of Moonwalker for Genesis. Also, one of his songs was already on GH: World Tour.

Hell yeah. I remember that crappy game! You go around dancing your foes to death while trying to rescue little kids from mobsters or something. You also have dance off battles with the bosses. The main music was that smooth criminal song too.

"MJ- I'M BAD HOOOooo!"

LOL

good times.

EDIT> It was the Genesis version I played btw.

I played this for the first time about a year ago, and somehow, I saw the Smooth Criminal video for the first time only recently. Without that context (and the rest of Moonwalker), the game is utterly bizarre, as opposed to just being the usual level of unsettling you get from playing Michael Jackson, opening closets and letting little girls out.

Best thing is how between level loads, you get a barely recogniseable portrait of Michael on screen. His mouth opens and emits an electronic 'WOOO!'. Even in the context of a Michael Jackson game, it seems completely out of place.

Oh, and don't forget the Sonic 3 music theory.
