I didn't like Doom 3, Quake 4 or Riddick. I say you'd get more entertainment out of an SNES and some sweet games.

I recently bought Metroid Prime 1 & 2 for a total of $15 and I'm liking the 1st one so far :) I'm on a console run of games right now - Super Metroid, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 (soon to be 2), gonna rent BLACK and 24: The game when they come out.

:D

By something else, I voted neither...but then again, it's all up to you.

doom III was waaaaay to long. though I played through it. the first hours was great.

quake 4 got unistalled after a short while. boring.

Buy doom III.

someone mentioned Riddick - escape from butcher bay...well thats the game you should go for if you are looking for a singel player campaign. in multiplayer nothing beats BF2

Can i jump in and recommend Silent Hill 4? I'm currently playing it and let me tell you, it makes Doom 3 look like Barbies Tropical Adventures.

Has this sickness of your manifested itself in any tangible ways yet? It is a problem when you hear about kids games--games made for young girls--and you automatically start thinking of risque and sometimes deviant sexual acts. You might consider therapy....

hehe there's barbie

and then there's barbie

it's a joke, man

Doom 3 is a bad ass ****ing game. The enemies are great (they look like they'll jump out of the screen, and they're the biggest baddest mofos ive ever seen), and the game has a creepy atmosphere all the way through. But it's not so much fun to play. It gets repetetive after a while, since all you do non stop is look for higher key cards and kill monsters along the way.

I havent played Quake 4, but Doom III isnt worth the money (especially when you have an internet connection).

I would buy neither instead buy Clive Barkers Undying. It's $1.99 at eb games and i played it last night its freakin scary . $1.99 Folks!!!

Kinda OT but is the Silent Hill series something I need to play through in order? I played the first one a long time ago and wasn't crazy about it. I've heard great things about 3 and 4 though.

Buy two lapdances.

EDIT - Whoever told you good things about 4 is not your friend. Two and three are the good ones, and no, they have nothing to do with each other (3 is a continuation of one but I never played 1 and I didn't miss anything, and 2 and 4 stand alone). Four is ok, but play 2 and 3 first, as they are the best in the series.

Doom 3 was repetitive as hell....except the hell level was quite a fresh breath of air, that was soon replaced by more of stagnant boring as hell levels. The graphics? Everyone says they were amazing, however I found it like looking at a piece of black construction paper most of the time. How the heck can graphics be amazing IF YOU CAN’T SEE THEM!

You interested in buying my copy of Doom 3? It’s in perfect condition; just need to wipe off the cob-webs – unless you really want those (the cob-webs are scarier than Doom 3 was!). Send me a PM if you’re interested – lol.

If your talking about the Quake games, then I`m sorry, but Quake 4 is so much better single player wise than Quake 2 it`s not even funny, play Quake 2 without the nostalgia, now play Qauke 4, which is better?

Oh and Quake 3 is not a continuation of Qauke 1, it has no story relevence to any Quake`s before it, Quake 4 is the only one that can be considered a proper sequel to any of the previous games.

Quake 2 > All other Quakes, kthx.

Quake 4 was a nice and fun romp... but Quake 2 was definitely better.

Hell, Give Quake 2 Quake 4's graphics and voila.

Nope. But it helps to understand what its all about.

Silent Hill 2 and 4 are completely standalone. Silent Hill 3 is a sort of sequel to the first one. The only thing all the games have in common is the town Silent Hill (wich causes some supernatural shit).

Silent Hill 4 is pretty bad compared to the rest in the series though (although it had an insane storyline). I'd buy the second one if i was you. It has one of the best plots you'll find anywhere, and it has a cool (but fear inducing) Pyramid Head guy.

But if you dont like puzzles and story driven gameplay, you wont like silent hill at all.

Hate the controls in Silent Hill 4. Sucks badly. They totally need to give the series better controls. Even something like Beyond Good And Evil would make the game so much better.

Quake 1 is the only good quake. That bad boy spawned Team Fortress.

That`s like saying, "Change the game, and voila".

It`s just one pace shooting with no story or breaks.

Suppose it`s one of them things where if you were playing PC games when it was released, you have fond memories of it.

[denial mode] NO! Quake 2 still owns all! [/end]

Meh, I was never a fan of the Quake series anyways :p, I'm an Unreal fanboy.

Ironic, since I am a die hard conservative next to you:)
It was a joke.

I think they are perfect as they are, makes the game more realistic and scary :D

Out of the two I would go with doom 3. I don't like either game but doom 3 has some fun mods that can keep me entertained for a while. I personally would wait for some of the new games coming out in march like oblivion and ghost recon.

Silent Hill, sorry.
