Ok, I just built my own computer and it has been experiencing some weird errors. I thought it was due to overheating issues so I installed the ASUS PC probe and it turns out everything is fine except for the Power fan! It is at 0 RPMs, which means it's not working at all! How can I fix this? There must be a way, it's a thermaltake 420W power supply. What should I do! Please help me!

uhm, i'm going to guess that the power fan that asus pc probe is trying to get the speed for isnt your power supply, and to check your powersupply fan you can stick your hand at the back of the case and see if the power supply is blowing air out, chance are very good that it will be blowing air, im sure you would have noticed if it wasnt.

what kinds of errors are you getting? please be as specfic as possible and i'll see what i can do to help.

Ok, the types of erros I get are the ones that seem to be common with overheating. Some of the games I have will freeze after some time goes by. It will just freeze up in the middle of gameplay although the sound will continue to play. I have Mafia, Hitman 2, and XIII (single player demo) installed as of right now. UT 2003 and SOF2 do not freeze during gameplay. I have the latest patches and drivers installed for my games and hardware. The power supply fan is blowing out quite a bit of air so I guess it's working fine. I checked out my BIOS and in the hardware monitor section all I see is a grayed out N/A for the power supply fan control. I can't seem to get a read on RPM's. Also, sometimes while playing Hitman 2, the screen will black out and an earsplitting noise will play through the speakers. The game is patched up to the latest version. I am also running windows XP. Do you need more info?

Edit: One other thing. Sometimes when I try to play Mafia the game will start to load but send me back to the desktop right away. It's very frustrating.

Nope, I just checked it out, everything is working fine on my graphics card. The fan is working correctly.

make sure there are no trolls, bugs, small rodents, aliens, baseball bats, sunglasses, tea cups, babies, pizza, tunafish, avatars, junkyards, water, oil, ketcup, mustard, flies, horses, pigs, livers, brains, skulls, bones, hands, arms, legs, kangaroos, hedghogs, keyboards, mouses, telephones, cell phones, cd cases, candy wrapers, paper, staple clip, stapler, staple remover, air freshener, post it notes, floppy discs, cars, tires, lightning bolts, blank cd's, chicken, fried chicken, hamburger meant, taco rolls or spagettios in your case. Those could be causeing the problems.

Thanks [Hunter]Ridic, I opened up my case to check it out and it turns out there was a baby inside munching on the CPU fan cables, as well as a kangaroo. Thanks alot for your help! Seriously though, I installed DNA drivers for my ATI card instead of the ones from ATI and now everything works beautifully in the games. Still weird heating issues, but I am guessing that there is no sensor in my power supply to give temperature readings.

yeah, ati drivers can be a bit poor at times. Ohwell, at least the stuff is pretty.

do you have all the patches for each game?
what hardware do you have in the system?
what power supply?

well no, your motherboard can't sense your powersupplies heat.. or what speed the fan is running at..because it doesn't have a sensor there.

enjoy your PC.

if you have more them 1 ram module .. see if they are the same speeds .. if not the system tends to lock up .. i had those probs
