Ive got my playstation and my copy of final fantasy 9 upstairs somewhere, but i dont have a TV to currently use them on. Ive tried mucking about with some PSX emulators trying to get the thing to read the damn CD in the drive but it didnt work. Are there any programs out there where I can just pop my CD in the drive, click a button and start playing?

I can't help you, but I can say that this kind of talk is okay so long as you already have the game, which you do. Anyway, uh, yeah, I'll sod off now.

Yep, your not really doing anything illegal, you paid for the game and just want to actually play the thing.. But you'll probably find that the emulators out there for those kind of things are a bit hit and miss. 8bit machines emulate pretty much perfectly, 16bit computers not too bad, some issues though, consoles, depends, N64 emulates ok but the problem at that point is a lot of games will struggle and be unplayable or buggy, since all the hardware is being emulated..

Your best bet is just buy a cheap TV for the time being. Could probably pick up a portable for about £25 these days.

Try ePSXe .

You might have to mess with the different plugins and tweak it until it works, but I used to play crash bandicoot 2 on it. I was too lazy to take my PS out of the closet plus I had lost the memory card and one of the cables.

Actually, CVGS is by far the best plug and play PSX emulator. It literally have NO options to configure, runs at 800x600, no lag, great sound, and has full controller configuration and memory card support.
Only downside is it doesn't work on anything past Windows 98.

The emulator isn't supported by the company anymore, so you can't buy it or anything. However, there are vaporware sites that I've seen that sport the full version for download. Truely the best emulator I've ever used for PSX.

Google "connectix virtual game station"

wow ok i got the game "working" as in it runs

but its like the thing has been put into turbo mode, it runs like 10X normal speed, its impossible to scroll the menus because even if i barley press the w key, it scrolls through the entire menu about 3 times

any thoughts?

I had this same problem while geting Silent Hill working on my PC. Sadly, I was never able to fix it, it was just a hardware incompatibility.

(Well I'm not sure if you are using ePSXe, but I'll try to help you out anyway.)

I am familiar with your problem, many people experience it. You need to mess around with the FPS limiter. I'm not sure exactly where you need to go to configure it, its been months since I've used ePSXe.

Basically, if you have a powerful rig its going to run as fast as possible, which might put you in the 150+ fps range. Try setting the fps limit to 25-30.

If you are using ePSXe, try searching the website's forums for help.
