So, i have been playing for 31 hours and i am 56 percent done, and i beat it. Wow, just wow...i can say without hesitating that this is one of the best games i have played in my whole life, best PS2 game i have ever played, and it is THE best GTA game ever.
Now i know what all you nay sayers are thinking, and i wasn't that enthused until i got to where i am, it has such a solid storyline, such a refined combat system, so much to do, so many new things. For being the HUGE game it is, for being a living breathing city, for not having ANY load times between cities, i am amazed that the graphics are still good.
The last mission, i wont spoil it, but it was amazing, it brought together shooting, driving, rail shooting, and all the other elements that make the game great in one missio. Unlike GTA3 where the last mission was just you killing 50 guys.
The radio is great if you like rap, rock, classic rock, country, techno, or anything else. The DJs and comercials are the funniest yet, and there are still many Cameos to GTA3 (a mission in Liberty City, you meet the GTA3 guy etc) Even though i BEAT the game, i still feal like im not even scratching on the surface (yes i know i have 56%) There are 200 "hidden packages" (tags, horseshoes and photos) The import Export place, the valet missions, more side missions, trying to get my character really fat, and so much more that i cant list.
To top it all off, they made this amazing game in about ONE year, that is amazing, and they still make it enjoyable. One problem i had with missions in VC and GTA3 was that they were diverse, but once you played one, you had played 12 of them, because they would replay the same mission except you are trying to kill someone else, or you have to catch someone else. In SA, pretty much EVERY mission is amazingly differant and never ceases to amaze me, i wish this was like Max Payne 2 where i could just jump to a mission.
I find myself yearning to play missions again. Most every mission is straight out of an action movie (and not in a shitty way like Driv3r) When i am playing some missions, i cannot believe how awesome it is. Like that one where you are given an Ak47 and you have to defend tons of cars, police bikers jump onto your car and start punching you, your gun gets jammed and a helicopter is right in front of you, your driver speeds up and the police man's head gets chopped off by the blades, the brakes go out and you fly through a billbord (which says "a taste of good things to come" but the hole makes it say " a taste of come")
My fingers are getting tired, but if you have a PS2 and you done have it, GET IT! Or if you hae a PS2, and you played it for a while at a friends house or something and didnt like it, BUY IT!
