in the new steam client you can buy hl source for 10 bucks (9.95 USD)...woot

Good idea. All of Valve's Source engine games should be able to be purchased individually.

HL:S is just HL with nice water. and more bugs.

y would u want it anyways theres nothing different valve didnt spend much time on it so its not worth buying

Meh... HL:S isnt really worth $10 imo.
*awaits Black Messa source*

hl1 S has nice water, better sparks/explosions, ragdoll physics, and the crossbow will pin enemies hl2 style. Otherwise it is the same game

Don't forget the 3D Skyboxes. Have to love the opening map of Surface Tension

I can only see the option to buy it as part of hl2 gold or silver package...

I don't think it's worth $10.

Not worth it....BMS all the way...i just want to hear more updates from them.

*shrugs* I'd pay $20 for BM:S, with all the work those guys are putting into it. But it wont be out for like another year anyway.

I remain a sceptic regarding many mods, but I remain a huge BM:S optimist.

You need the new steam client.

If you guys only knew went on inside that mod...ha.
Tell us then. I don't really care as long as they provide the promised product.

I just hope they will finish the mod, the media they have realised so far is just so great-looking. But to me it seems like they discuss a little to much on their forums...everyone has a different oppinion about the train-ride-opening-sequence for example, that slows the speed down me thinks.

Alot of the discussion is just us lowly members and then one of the team decends and tells us how it will be. I'm pretty sure the team has decided on the intro and arn't taking any-more suggestions on it. I personaly hope they add glass.

ah I just bought it...its not bad for a straight port of the game I guess at only $9 95. I thought the "test fire" in blast pit on the big alien looked really good with the effects (colored smoke, steam, fire, and the dust effects afterwards)..Ive only been skipping around the chapters but I think HL:s is way better than the original

well its source lol but its not worth buying

it is worth $10, btw is also got displacement mapping and currently a rudimentary version of HDR (works better than in HL2) its also getting DM soon which has full HDR support :D

Its worth it, theres also some new/enchanced physics related fun, and the last level has been partly redone.

I would recommend anyone to get it, its an imporved version of HL1, and I have personally found no bugs at all.

There are a bunch of guys actually working on HD-models for HL: S (more high-definition than Blue-Shift's models), it's only beta so far though but it looks really great.

Just one problem though. They DON'T want people posting the download links on other forums, so if you want it, just PM me.

And yes, it's for HALF-LIFE: SOURCE. And it's only a beta so far so you can expect bugs.

If you don't have the original HL1 is a better buy anyway cause you can get BS adn OP4 for free.

Edit: about that HD model. The assasin looks like she's wearing a sex suit rather than military equipment.
it has a nice shiny zip
it has nice shiny rubber
You don't want shiny bits when you want to remain unseen in the dark. Plus
her armour has been replaced by pointless shoulder pads(will she tackle Gordon in this version?)
why would she have exposed fingure-tips? Are assasins supposed to leave fingure-prints?
her wrists are exposed, adding to the visibility
they look like they have binoculars straped to their heads rather than just thermal-vison. They are supposed to be shooting short range

Overall I think they've just gone for style over funtionability. I'm disapointed.

The one improvement I see is making the gun black instead of grey.

I've found several issues, but then again, I have several issues with the non-source version of HL1 as well. (Can't even play Half-Life unless it's in source due to a constant freezing problem near the apache on the tram sequence. Verifying my files didn't help either)

Ultimatly, the fact that HL:S runs better on modern day systems, and can have the 3d card settings be done IN-GAME makes it a very worthy port. Same game with the benifits of the Source engine: exactly what I wanted. They just need to fix a couple of issues and it'll be perfect.

So... where can I get the client? I'm surprised it doesn't update automatically. Then again so far Steam has proven to be an annoying piece of...

The client is in beta testing right now; not intended for public consumption quite yet.

I just downloaded what is presumably the new steam client from steampowered.com, but it's just the same as ever, and HL:S does not appear on the "Play Games" list, anywhere.

I goto browse games, I see HL:S then I click purchase options. It is only available with Gold and Silver packages, as before.

You can't download it yet. It's a -parameter you have to add.

I wish I had a credit card :( Pity they don't have a pre-paid card system like so many MMORPGS.
