I passed my test 3 weeks ago, I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Let me copy&paste from my brag thread from another forum:

Yay, I passed my driving test and will get my license in 3 weeks time.

It was a second attempt though. First time I didn't even get to drive in the city traffic, cause I drove out of the curve (dunno what you Brits have to do on your test, I have to drive forward into a curve and then drive out of it going backwards, not crossing the lines; then stop on a slope with my handbrake and set off without rolling back more than 0,2m; then I can drive in traffic). I failed cause there was a recent change in the examination process, and instead of being able to set my mirrors so that I could see the lines of the curve, I had to look in the rear window and take only a few glimpses of the mirror. I have only practised this for a few minutes, as opposed to the first method, which i have learnt much longer and could do easily.

Today I still passed the curve by the skin of my teeth , but driving in the city traffic was OK. I'm so glad I don't have to do it again cause everytime it's a big stress.

Cya on the road (well, slim chance but still)! Just let me get used to driving on the right side of the road before hitting your awkward left-side roads grin

Single most important driving rule:

Never drive in excess of a speed where you can stop in the distance you can see to be clear ahead.

Basically, if you're tear-arseing around some road so fast that you can't stop in the space visible, you're driving too fast.

Passing the test is the easy bit. Driving safely is extremely difficult.

My doctor perscribed me with sedatives, and I drove as if I was having a Sunday-morning cruise. I got three minors for slow driving, because I was so over-relaxed. Thank God for Propanolol.
