Do you all remember from some years ago that "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" thing where you could link Kevin Bacon to just about every other actor/actress within six degrees of separation.

I just came to the horrid realization that I'm 2 degrees of separation from Ellen DeGeneres: my college roomate married the actress (and I'm stretching that description) Anne Heche who once thought she was a lesbian and was with Ellen DeGeneres.

Now I'm scarred for life...damnit.
 
By stretching that description do you mean he didnt marry her??? If so, Ellen Degeneres is still rather frightening.
 
Pretty sure he means that Heche could barely be considered an actress. Hehe... ;)
 
I just realised that I'm now 3 degrees away from DeGeneres just by posting in this thread. :D
 
Let's see, the movie Election was filmed near my hometown. One day they had a call for extras for the 2 gymnasium scenes so my friends and I went. So I'm in the movie election. Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick are both VERY short by the way.

So, who here can link ME to Kevin Bacon in the fewest number of moves?

By degrees we mean people as in "how many people are between you and that person through knowledge and contact".

There is a theory that each of us is separated from any other person by at most six degrees of separation. For example:

I know someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows you.

I realize this is confusing!
 
Its like being in school. You may see a person walk by and not realize that someone knows that person to another person and so on and links all the way back you.
I believe everyone in school is linked to each other one way or another. YOU CAN'T ESCAPE IT.
Good thing I graduated ;p
 
yeah, basically there are 6 degrees of separation between you and any human on earth. although i'm sure there are some extremely hermetic people out there that know one knows... so eh...

...i know a girl who is SUPPOSEDLY a producer for the olsen twins' company. she's like, their cousin or something. SUPPOSEDLY...
 
Heh, the weirdest link i've ever found is when two completely random girls added me to their MSN list, they just typed in names and stuff and found one that worked.

Anyway, it turns out a know a girl who went to the same school and was about 2 years above the two that added me and knows who they are. I met this girl when i was camping in peterborough (For those that don't know its about a hundred or so miles from where we live. I happen to live about 40 miles from this girl i know.

Its weird that even with so many people, we are all so closely connected.
 
I thought you meant like Longitude and Latitude degrees. I was like wtf lol.
 
It's so weird when things like this happen. This one time some guy from a forum I went to turned out to be my friend's friend's cousin. (I'm not joking either.) Such weirdness.
