I leave for U.S. NAVY recruit training Monday

Don't let anybody swipe their dick down your asscrack like a credit card!

Good luck, and also remember this...

A sure cure for seasickness is to sit under a tree.

Thanks Hectic Glenn, Que, CptStern, Azner and Bob_Marley!

GOOD LUCK!!

youre gonna need it! how long did you say the training was again?
PROTIP: when i was at the marine corps base, anyone who fidgeted (wiping sweat off, looking around,
scratching, anything) would get completely f*cked over by the PT instructors, run into the
f*cking ground, and then some. SO: when told to stand to attention, STAND VERY, VERY STILL.

i was amazed at how few people on my course couldnt do it, and we all suffered because of it.

but anyway, it ll be fun. good luck!
Thanks here too. Yeah, I'd imagine that most of our workout routines will be because many in our division are going to screw up....alot. NAVY recruits don't have nearly as strenuous a boot camp physically as other branches, but I'm sure this factored in will more than make up for it.

I'm a very quick learner, though I'd imagine alot of others won't be. I have no problem standing completely still and shutting the f*** up for long periods of time.

Can you chose what kind of posting you want in the US navy?.

Those carriers seem like relatively sweet postings.

Best of luck Saturos, its probably not the most glamorous of career choices but I'm betting its one of the more satisfying.

Posting depends on the rate (job) really and how well trainees do in school. The rate I currently have is about 60% on-shore and 40% on-board over a period of 20 years, which is not too often I'll get stationed out to sea.
Unless I change my rate, or double-rate into IT, I won't really get to experience the open seas (and foreign countries) much tbh.

I have a friend who is also a Yeoman and he doesn't like it at all because they don't really do a whole lot of voyaging.

Also, I wouldn't say the NAVY is very glamorous at all, but I will be satisfied with my accomplishment once I'm finished with training.

EDIT> I'm also nervous as hell. The countdown is upon me. (three days left) The reaper cometh.

Goodbye everybody. I'm leaving today and won't be able to post for about 15 weeks or so.

This is gonna be hell compared to the laidback lifestyle I'm used too, but I'll be glad I accomplished this and can mark it off as one of the things I wanted to do list before I die/get too old.

We should buy him a dragonshirt before he gets back.
