I could, but it would be hard to properly summarize...you would be missing out on a lot. When it ends I could just tell you the end, and how it came to that.

whats it about? what are these? note: the first ones funny :)

EDIT
by the way, will these be in the game, or are they seperate? seems like a lot of work for some seperate sound files.. .these are entertaining! they could be in the radio or something!

i've been visiting this site for over a month :X still can't find something logical.

WARNING: SPECIAL BROADCAST SUNDAY 10/31

This might be offensive...but are you retarded?

Apparently none of this stuff has to do with Halo 2. At least according to Gamespot

you seem to have misunderstood what i meant by 'not being able to find anything logical'

ok, you go explain the random .wav files, the encrypted images, the random text/recipes, tell me the password for the infamous ilovebees (can't remember the username) hotmail account, explain to me the blog which the site is linked, what was the special broadcast on sunday, why was "ilovebees.com" in the xbox trailer etc... good luck, and when your done, tell the other thousands of people who are wondering just what exactly ilovebees is about.

also, i've been listening to all those .wav files (i've listened to chapter 1 & 2 so far). quite .. 'interesting' ;D

i have no clue what ilovebees is about and i dont see how anyone can make anything of it at all... its just all random crap

The random .wav files fit into an order that tell the story of 4 different people, Jan, Kamal, Jersey and some navy guy...Standish I think. Don't worry about the hotmail account, the blog is a blog of the cousin of the site owner who is trying to figure out what happened to her site because some rogue AI took it over and she wants the web site back. This does have to do with Halo 2's story, you may not need to know any of it but it is like a little prequal. The special broadcast was the end of the story, the world was saved. Sorry for calling you retarded too, if you took it seriously.
Here is a summary:

WHAT WE KNOW (Summarized)
Here's what we know so far:

Melissa, a.k.a. "The Operator," used to run communications on a ship, the Apocolypso. The ship's purpose: to spy on an enemy known as "the Covenant." If you don't know who they are... just go and kill yourself.

The Apocolypso was deep undercover in enemy territory, when it picked up an alien artifact, small about 1 meter in diameter, floating in space. Shortly afterwards the ship's computer systems went bazerk, and the ship dissapeared into slipspace. The vessel crash landed in a low lunar orbit, with many survivors, and the artifact. Standish, a high ranking ONI operative has assumed control of the artifact and has had the survivors of the ship executed, covertly of course. He has assumed the artifact to be a kind of advanced covenant weapon. Though at time, it is unclear of it's origin or purpose, only that it may not be covanent, and that it is certainly appearing to be counting down via means of a pulsating decay timer.
The last event occurring from the devices activation resulted in a near total blackout of all Sol communication channels.
Also of notable interest: The Artifact has been noted to in some way possess a link to another UNSC ship called, "The Pillar of Autum". (Link in the form of Tunnel channels???)

We don't know why it's broadcasting, but the Melissa is giving us GPS coordinates for the phones, and times to show up. So we are. We're collecting its fragmented messages and trying to put them back together. These transmissions are coming from the surveilance records of Durga, an AI in the future.

Rahnie, a young girl who has been enlisted by ONI. Exploited as an asset to gain a foothold into the artifact on Chawla base by a cranky old spy called Herzog.

Herzog, a cranky old man, formerly a spy. Herzog is engaged in a beurocratic battle to gain proper control over the artifact at Chawla base. An attempt opn his life has already been made, and Many others have been systematically killed by his opponent, Standish.

Jersey Morelli, an ordinary kid whose computer has been taken over by an eavesdropping AI he nicknames Durga. We still believe Durga is in some way a part of or counterpart to Melissa.

Janissary James, a 17-year-old girl tricked out with genetic enhancements. She is called a Spartan 1.1, the child of two Spartan 1.0s. Her father, JJ, was reccently killed by a thug called Thin Kinkel, her not-so-stable mother, gilly, has allied with gladys, another 1.0 to help bring justice to JJ's killers.

Kamal, a Medical Resident who immigrated to Earth from Coral and is once willing to trade his elite hacking skills for help bringing his parents over — and maybe improve his flatlined lovelife. He now has nothing left to loose, and Has rediscovered his sister in the form of Durga, based off of her mental pathways.

We also know that these targets are connected: Currently they are all engaged in a final endeavour to covertly infiltrate building 41 at Chawla Base in Boston, MA. This is where the artifact is being held.

ILB Server:

When the Operator, "Melissa" crashed on the 'I Love Bees' server, it didn't come alone.

It came with two autonomous programs:
1) the SPDR, designed to repair damage to the Operator, and
2) the Pious Flea, designed to... well, we're not sure yet.

The SPDR brought the Operator back to life. In a matter of speaking, it reassembled the many fragments of Melissa before being overcome by a damaged Melissa's bending to the niave notions implanted by the Pious Flea. IOW: The Pious Flea influenced Melissa into destroying the SPDR.

We don't know much about the Flea, except that it wants "to seek, behold, and reveal the truth." It may have corrupted the original order of priorities for Melissa.

There is one other voice we've found on the site: The Sleeping Princess.

The Sleeping Princess used Aunt Margaret's email account and error pages to share secrets and play games with us. She also liked to hide text in images. We have out right confirmed she is the underlying personality that the AI Melissa was absed on. She has been spying a lot on the Queen (The Master sector) lately and fending off the Pious Flea's advances. She was trying to remember who she was before she became the Sleeping Princess. Her "Murder" has resulted in total unification of Melissa.

At the completion of this post we are T - 9 days and 11 hours from Retail Launch of Halo

i wasn't 100% sure if you were joking or not :X

anywho, i was just listening to more of the .wavs off the humptydumpty page, and i think it was chapter 3 where they are discussing the apocalypso so i've learnt about that so far.

ONI operative = ?
SPDR = ? ; it was specualted to mean "single player demo rxxx" at one point, but what is it now (I forgot the correct acronym i read on netninja awhile ago).

this summarization, was it written by you ('we' ?) or where did you get it from, i'd like to go wherever it was (assuming it was another forum) to furhter discuss this with peopel who are interested :X

also, where can the final transmission be heard from ? on the humptydumpty page it stops @ chatper 10.

edit button has disappeared :X

so SPDR is a 'program' to repai The Operator (Melissa). I figured that out.

So The Operator now takes orders from Pious Flea, but The Operator 'kills' SPDR as SPDR tries to elminte Pious Flea. In Chapter 1 or 2, the chat 'follows this story' without the name, i think it was the boy and durga talking.

I Love Bees is a very very good PR Stunt.

The Metroid Prime ones suck.

OMFG...the final sound files have been put out...the story is now over...and omfg...the ending was amazing...you HAVE to listen to the whole thing it was incredible!!!!!!

Someone here must be following ILB, it would be a crime against humanity if this story goes unlistened to.

Holy shit!! Is it just me, or do some of the voices sound like some of the guys from Red vs Blue? In the audio file labled week2_subject3, the guy that kamal has ghosting him 'just in case' sounds just like Caboose from RVB...plus teh red and blue buttons....maybe it's just coincidence...

I wouldn't put it past Bungie to have used the help of the RVB guys to make these recordings....

Edit: listen to chapter 2, kamal's recording....

Actually, the Metroid ones are clever (not the ilovewhatever ones, but the www.channel51.org ones, and numerous other sites).
They also have some AIM accounts that speak in riddles.

ILB is much much much more massive than you think. Other people did A LOT of work so you don't really know what happened. Some people were contacted, but most had to goto a pay phone. At first you just talked to the operator, but then she started asking questions and then she made you do things, like get a bunch of people together or sing a song. At the end there would be random messages that pop up on a random spot on ILB and that would be the code for the operator, and if you got it wrong it wouldn't count. There were also tons of imbedded code and riddles.

anyone remember the beta 7 [the nfl 2005 or something] game conspiracy!

I've been following it ever since it was discovered.

I'm NOT kidding around or "fanboy-ing" when I say this, but the ILB story is quite possibly one of the best stories I've read, heard, or seen told.

It was absolutely incredible to follow, and the entire ARG is worth the price of Halo 2 alone.

i've been following it since the trailer was posted on the net.

Has anyone followed the Cortana letters? When Halo wasn't announced and an AI called Cortana hacked into Bungie's email system? Or did that go unnoticed (okay, it was long ago maybe I've grown old)? It was necessary that Bungie did something like that this time again.

If you want to know what the Cortana letters are: http://marathon.bungie.org/story/cortana.html

Please remember, that was in time of the Marathon series from Bungie, for MAC (Halo was planned as a MAC game originally, a strategic 3rd person shooter. There are videos of the beta which were published in MAC World).

This makes me want and appreciate Halo 2 much more than Half-Life 2.

Bungie kicked VALVe's ass so hard. They actually seem to care about their fanbase and want their fans to have the time of their lives with the storyline and the gaming experience.

It just seems like VALVe doesn't give a rat's ass and just wants to be impressive - to see what kind of product they can release.

PR driven hype? Maybe. But it made the wait so much fun, so exciting, go by so much more quickly, and makes it seem so worth it.

Bungie owns all.

The story had the best, most perfect ending ever. It was so amazing, I will never forget this. I got chills at the end

When the sirens went off...omg

but this hype is specific, it's for us gamers/geeks not for the general population. woot for bungie.

That's exactly my point. They were so good and so loyal to their fanbase. They even gave shoutouts to their "Bee Keepers" in the audios if you know what to listen for.

Foxtrot, have you heard Chapter Thirteen? Gets you all choked up. ;(

i'm sorry guys.... i played the leak from beginning to end... ilovebees.com has nothing to do with Halo 2... maybe the Halo universe, but not halo 2... just viral marketing, getting people talking... i apologize

spoiler tags were made for a reason .. you kind of just killed my fun.

Can someone just summarize it all because i have a paper to write and i dont have time to listen

Where is Chapter 13?

I can't seem to find it....

-EDIT- And you'll probably find this isn't directly related to Halo 2 by looking at the credits list (Which has been released now)

ILB's story takes place/starts before the first Halo because it talks about the Fall of Reach....which is/is in the book that precedes Halo. It was a good read, I suggest you go read it if you want to understand what happened to Reach.

i read all 3 books... only listened to one or two chapters of ILB while people were still answering "nodes" to activate them on the site, then i gave up

it'd be nice if someone combined all the WAV files into one MP3 to listen to

For those in need of a summary, or want to listen to the WAV files, here are a few links for you.

Chapters One through Twelve on the I Love Bee's website.
Great reference site
The PERFECT ILB compilation

Hell, even if you don't care for Halo 2 or that ILB doesn't integrate with the game, at least give this a listen. It's one helluva story.

Chapter Thirteen, originally released with the ILB DVD, can be found here.

Scroll down and click on 'thanks.'

I wish I had followed the clues and found some kind of answer through all that. There was a point to it all if you guys didn't hear.

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/564/564061p1.html

People that found the clues got to go to various theaters across the US to a huge pre-release Halo 2 event. They had xboxes set up to play. The winners from there would play xbox live matches against the winners from other theaters and it would be broadcasted to everyone. Sounds like it was fun. :(
