Sour Cream and Onion.

I have like 2 bowls worth of chips crammed in one bowl and it's just SOOOOOO good. My favorite type of chip hands down, Sour Cream And Onion.

Discuss.
 
Sweet Chilli Heat Doritoes are the bomb. That, or Tostitoes with a hint of lime. Purely sublime.
 
If you eat enough Sour Cream and Onion chips you'll get sick of them... pretty fast. I've been on a salt and vinegar kick lately.
 
Yea.. I used to be all about the All Dressed, now it's just 'meh'.

Utz plain
any brand Salt and Vinegar
brand-X BBQ potato chips
Sun Chips - any flavor

and ruffles are amazing with sour cream & onion dip
 
Ugh.. Salt and Vinegar is gross as a chip, good on french fries, so in theory it should be good on chips.. It just doesn't work, guys.

Salt and vinegar is good. It does get a little too acidic after eating too many though.

Doritos are pretty good too. Sun Chips are also good.

I've never liked plain potato chips like Lays.

Salt and vinegar chips are nasty. I fail to see where people even remotely think they taste good. Everyone in my family but me likes the damn smelly things. :dozey:

There are healthy foods that taste better to me than junk. You just got to know where to look.

My favorite chips, in order from most to not-so-most

Cool Ranch Doritos
Sour Cream and Onion Ruffles
Nacho Cheese Doritos
Original Ruffles
 
Or condoms coated with crushed Salt and Vinegar chips.

Yeah, Doritos are great too. The original Nacho Cheese ones + Cool Ranch. Oh yes.
 
I actually really love salt & vinegar potato chips.

Gotta be from a good old fashioned brand though... none of the newer shit.

I just don't understand how "pure salt" and "pure vinegar" combined appeals to anyone's tastebuds. Akin to sucking on a chunk of pure salt rock tbh.

It's not like they just take a cup of salt and a cup of vinegar and shake them around in the bag of chips... the flavors compliment each other real well for a zesty snack that I actually find very refreshing.

It's just very rare that I get to enjoy it.

But potato chips are salty enough. :p Besides, if your saying that the ingridients aren't even the real thing, then that just makes them even worse. I'll just have to look at the ingridients the next time I get my hands on a bag that one of my poor mis-lead family members buy.

On a side note, I wonder if there's an episode on TLC's How It's Made that shows exactly how Salt and Vinegar chips are made? :|

Yes, potato chips are salty enough. To make salt & vinegar they don't take salted potato chips and toss in vinegar and more salt... lol.

And of course the ingredients are the real thing. Vinegar and salt and potato chips. I don't know what else, but those are the ingredients. That doesn't mean though that you just toss them in a bag and it's good. I'm sure there is a recipe with proper ratios that makes them taste good without being like drinking a cup of vinegar or eating a teaspoon of salt.

Buy a small bag of salt & vinegar potato chips(hopefully one of the tradtional brands, not something owned by pepsico), and try it before you rag on it. Salt & Vinegar is delicious. It's tastier than the sum of its parts.

What brands are owned by pepsico? Is that the same brand that makes the soft drinks?

Also, you'd be surprised what today's chemists can do to make food substitutes taste genuine. Though I don't doubt you or anything since you eat the things, you'd probably would know from examining the ingridients a time or two. :p

Salt & Vinegar are abundant and cheap enough to not need to be substituted.

Even lays Salt & Vinegar contains real salt and vinegar.

And by pepsico... I mean the huge corporation that among many, MANY other things, owns Frito-Lay which owns all the major snack brands like:

Fritos
Doritos
Cheetos
Tostitos
Ruffles
Lay's
Funyuns
Rold Gold
Sun Chips
Cracker Jack
Grandma's
Oh Boy!
Santitas


and tons more. They basically dominate the entire chip like snack industry.

Well, Guess I should've asked you which brands are the genuine Salt & Vinegar brands you speak of?
 
I don't know. Been forever since I've had any real classic brands.

Let me try to find some names.

By the way, that Terra company has some amazing exotic vegetable chips... things like sweet potato chips, tomato chips, rice chips. Delicious.



Having trouble finding other names... but I'm sure any small brand name would actually be pretty damn good. They generally have better quality chips most of the time.

Having said that, I'm sure lays brand is good as well, just maybe not perfect. Maybe some British people can step in, because I think it's a traditional British flavor combination.
 
Used to love sour cream and onion. I still like it, but now it seems I'm more into bbq.

Then you go onto Sour Cream and Chive, it is so much smoother and goes down easier
