But unfortunately, I am rather limited. Here's my setup as of now: I have cable going from my TV to my VCR to a surge protector, to the wall. I have only one wall outlet anywhere near my TV.

Have any of you confronted, and surmounted this problem? Would the purchase of a splitter help, or would it weaken the signal too much? Any ideas on strategies that have worked for you?

By the way, I'm aware that wireless networking would be the easiest way to go, but the fact is, the Xbox Live Wireless Adapter costs, $80, a rip off in my opinion considering I can get a wireless router itself for only $40. Are there any other ways to get a wireless connection to Live without using the MS adapter?

I realize this is a confusing thread with way too many questions crammed in. I will be eternally grateful if you can muster together some sort of reply. I must play Halo 2 online!

I normally don't bump threads, but come on, only 12 views? I think there is a real art to writing interesting thread titles, which I evidently failed on this time around.

I have the same problem... my router and wireless network is very far from where my Xbox is situated and I really don't want to dish out the money for that wireless adapter. There has got to be a better way.

Hey guys. I had the same problem. Still kind of do, but that's a different story.

My question to you is, how far away from the XBOX is your modem? You can always pick up one of these. That's what I did and I don't experience any lag or high ping, which I had expected since the cable is so long.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for suggesting that cable, but unfortunately that would involve running wires through the center of my living room, which of course wouldn't go over well. :)

Anyone know of any cheap wireless routers or wireless game adapters that actually work?

Hm....you could always just unplug and put away when you're done playing? :p

That's all I got man. Sorry I can't be of any more help.
