In a video tutorial the guy imports a picture of a weapon to use as a reference picture, which i need to do, but I can not figure out how to import the picture into the view I'm using, and the video does not tell how either, please help!

1. open the image up with another program while xsi is already running.
2. Drag the image into one of the 4 views.
3. Click on the menu on the top border of the view you want the picture to be shown in.
(It is labeled as wireframe as defult)
4. Clock on the last thing in the menu ("Rotoscopy options)
5. Click New -> New From Source -> (your pic should be listed here)
5 Click on the border menu again and click "Rotoscope" which will bring the image into the view.

k, thanks for the help!

I prefer to make two poly's + cross section shape. and put the image on there. Then work from that.

xsi_example.jpg

I keep the top, front and side poly images on different layers (unselectable) so I can make them visible or invisible when I want and can't accidently select them while modeling.
