Anyone of any recent Sci-Fi Movies to recommend?

The last few I watched were Moon and Avatar.....

I'm pretty sure I watched all the big ones in the last few years Im hoping I missed some.
I like Movies with Space Ships if that helps at all.:)

Check out "Primer". It's a great take on time travelling, even if it's a little flawed. No space-ships though, as it was made on a budget of $7,000

yes I have seen Sunshine great movie.I shall check out this Primer you speak of Sparta.
Damn maybe I really have seen al space scifi movie in the last few years.

Star Trek Alien etc....I cant think of any that I haven't seen I've even seen Pandorum which I enjoyed.

you should also watch Galaxy Quest, that was a great Sci-fi movie

I just watched Hardware. Its a movie from 1990 I think. Its about a post-apoc world where some destroyed robit puts itself back together and goes on a killing spree. The chick in it is pretty hot and you get to see her melons.

Try pandorum, babylon 5, battlestar, cube + 2, impostor, the fifth element, 2010 the year we make contact, wing commander, contact, dark city director's cut, galaxy quest, Sphere, men in black, dune 2000 mini series, children of dune, Gattaca, screamers, PITCH BLACK, Chronicles of riddick, firefly, Bicentennial man, Global Frequency unaired pilot, Caprica, red dwarf, Solaris, Virtuality, district 9, blade runner, mars attack, the right stuff, virus (1999), phenomenon, code 46, hardware (1990) and etc

You I think I've seen all those movies except for maybe Dune.I know there are differnt versions which one should I watch?
TV show first or the old Movies???

I personally prefer the mini-series, the first mini-series may seem cheap-ish (gonna think how 2000 tv cgi was like) but its got flaws too, but less than the 1984 movie.

But watching the mini-series has the reward of watching children of dune, a far more delicious affair.

Tried the Firefly series?

If you cant be arsed to watch a series, Serenity is a great movie (basically its the film of the Firefly series).

Nathan Fillion is legendary, his comedy comes so naturally. And will probably be Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie.

I've been told Pandorum is a good flick, Metacritic pro reviews says otherwise though.

I love Gattaca. I'm afraid there's not much space ships in it, or at least not much space action. You get to see a few taking off. It's about a guy who wants to be an astronaut but he has a terrible genetic make-up so the aerospace company won't take him on. He poses as a genetically perfect athlete (who has broken his legs and can no longer support himself) giving fake blood and urine samples and stuff like that to get the job. It's an excellent film.

Gattaca is one of those films where if it comes on, I'm always going to watch it. Wonderful movie.

I have seen and recommend these movies:

Blade Runner
2001: A Space Odyssey
Back to the Future
Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel
Terminator 2
Alien
12 Monkeys
Brazil
Solaris
Metropolis
District 9
The Iron Giant
Akira
Total Recall
The Andromeda Strain
A Scanner Darkly

How about Starship Troopers? This is NOT a serious movie, but I still love watching it. Lots of cheesy dialogue, and over-the-top violence.

Neither Children of Men or The Truman Show are super sci-fi but both are very good and kind of in that area.

If you're a Warhammer 40k fan(not one person I have recommended this to so far has been) Event Horizon is great. But only if you watch it in the mentality that these are the first adventurers into the Warp.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is amazing if you're open to anime as well.

Dune is amazing, too.

I haven't seen event Horizon since I was 12 because I literally pissed my pants when I saw i theaters.

The only that's mentioned sofar that I haven't seen is Hardware and Dune I'll check it out when I get off work.

Then you've probably already seen all the sci-fi movies worth watching, that have appeard in the last 20-30 years...

Hardware is completely hilarious. WE ALL WALK THE WIBBLY WOBBLY WALK

So have you tried, like, reading books?

2001: A Space Odyssey

Am I the only person who thought the sequel 2010 was actually better than the first film; the second had more intrigue and wonder than the first.

I've never read the books so obviously it was out of the producers and directors hands

Event Horizon is watchable.

Blasphemy, it is far more than watchable.

How about Starship Troopers? This is NOT a serious movie, but I still love watching it. Lots of cheesy dialogue, and over-the-top violence.

The movie sadly failed in passing the message on the book tried to carry. Still an enjoyable flick, but the book is a far different beast.

Pandorum was a sweet movie and you can compare it to the game Dead Space respectfully. Dark City as mentioned is also a knockout hit imo. I rented it and then ended up buying it. Also sci-fi action is one of my favorite genres

The Fountain was awesome, atmospheric and visual, not really a fan of Contact and Jodie Foster being all manly around the place. Solaris is a guilty pleasure even if it is a bit shit.

You should try the Stargate series:

Stargate(1994) - the movie, from which the TV series started
Stargate SG-1(1997) - the TV series adaptation of Stargate
Stargate: Atlantis(2004) - another great TV series, following the SG-1 series
Stargate:Continuum(2008) - a non-TV movie, having a close relations with the above.

Well, that was a little exhausting, but surely worth the time. :)

P.S. Yeah, I'm a Stargate geek. :D

I love it too, far more less mind numbing than 2001.

I too enjoyed the sequel a lot more. One probable reason is that I found the pacing to be more to my liking, whereas the first was too slow.

Eden Log is worth a buck for the rental. Well done given how low budget it was, but obviously not a blockbuster. It's more future noir than 'pure' sci fi, but I liked it.

Holy shit, I can't believe I forgot Eden Log.

Yes, yes yes, you *Must* watch it. It's great sci-fi, but it may be a little hard to comprehend at first for some people. I watched it with my GF and she had no idea what was going on until I explained some of the stuff she didn't put together at the end. The plot is a little more understated than in most movies, so you may need to watch it twice to really get what's happening.

All in all though, I really recommend it!

Been considering watching the Serenity series. Is there a final episode or does it just cut off?
