I am just sick of games at the moment. The developers are always trying to refresh a formula that's so old time itself wouldn't know where the hell it first came from. CS? So many people headshot me that I seriously don't know that I suck or that people bot. Or both. WoW? Yay. Kill kill kill quest kill quest kill kill kill instance kill kill quest. Need I say more? Oh, and every RTS that a friend has either given to me or that I've wasted my bandwidth on or about as fascinating as this image.

I spend more time reading stuff about the games than I do playing them. My rage hasn't ended yet but I seriously don't know what else to type. Oh, and I played the BF2 demo again and it sucked roosters.

Go on Starcraft. Now don't go and play your average match, but join a Diplomacy Gold, or Dodge the Rapists, Golems.
Thats the thing I love about Sc n Wc3, half the people that play don't play for what the Developers made, but rather for what the community made. I personally became addicted to Diplomacy Gold.

The best RTS's(Sc n Wc3) should never get old, because their are probably a few hundered different UMS maps being played right now. With any other RTS I just can't ever find any ones that match em. I mean cmon with Sc you have:
RPG's - past, future, present
RolePlaying - Where you go into a game and actually roleplay.
Diplomacy - Set in tons of different places, most offering totally different gameplay and strategies and require different thinking than another. Your ally can be allied to your enemy, you have to prepare for the worst and make and break alliances.
Civilizations - Some similar to diplomacys but with a twist, you must now not rely on your army and strategies but also your epoch which can make all the difference in the world.
Dodge the Rapists - Some have you has a zergling or a medic. Make it to the other side on a 128x128 map, tons upon tons of guys. Teamwork can be required.
100's of Defenses - A never ending amount of Defenses, most extremely different. Some lurker D, marine D, photon D, and tons more...
Golems - Pick the type of unit you want, more of a rock paper scissors games, create super golems as you get more kills, strategy can turn it, protect your bunker at all costs.

And many many more for Sc alone. Play Starcraft UMS, fast downloads, tons of people, and most of all FUN.

I've got WC3 from a friend, but I got it for WoW's lore, that's it. Now the RTS I mentioned wasting my bw on was in your post too, hmm, which one. Therefore I can't play SC.

well i suppose you could sit there and twiddle your thumbs, seems like you're very picky in what you like/dislike

Suggestion:

Kill yourself because there are no longer any more games that meet your standards.

Play Hostile Waters. It's got amazing gameplay - a perfect fusion of RTS and action, with customisable units and a squad-based dynamic. The script is written by Warren Ellis, arguably the best comic writer ever, author of Transmetropolitan, Planetary and The Authority. Your units are controlled by a team of bickering AIs. Your enemies are intelligent and often strange. The missions are perfectly crafted and the plot is just incredible. It's extreme to the mother****ing max plus ****.

You played Beyond Good & Evil yet? Check the 'your top 5 games' thread for the summary.

If none of those games please you, good luck finding anything better.

Roll dice until your nose bleeds.

I've got a game, loosely based on my experience at the casino.
You give me some money, and maybe I'll give it back. :E

If you have HL1 get natural selection This game is the best mix between RTS and FPS ever. You can play as alien or marine. On the alien side you have to build resource nodes and get resources to morph into the higher alien forms to wtfpwn and theres the builder unit that can build offense chambers and various other upgrade chambers.

On marine side 1 player is the commander and he places structures for the marines to build. The commander can drop weapons for the marines to pick up and can also give them various upgrades. Wep, armor upgrades motion tracking and even heavy armor and jet packs.

play final fantasy tactics (not the one for gameboy ), i loved the storyline/gameplay in that game.

Have you tried

Resident Evil 4?
Half Life 2
Doom 3?
No, yes, yes.
Also haven't got HL1 (could buy it for like €15 though, with TF, CS 1.6, and somethign else I forgot about) and I haven't played BG&E, will check out your post.

Ahh, yes, FFT is great if it's a first time play. If you've beaten it hundreds of times * like myself* then you get through 3 or 4 battles..and yeah, boring.

I dunno, I played Need For Speed Most Wanted for almost 24 hours straight. That's gotta count for something! :(

Hostile Waters. Hostile Waters. Hostile Waters. Hostile Waters. HOSTILE WATERS.
HOSTILE WATERS HOSTILE WATERS HOSTILE WATERS
HOSTILE WATERS HOSTILE WATERS

Tired of vanilla RTS? Then its time to get Kohan Ahriman's Gift - A game about TRUE strategy, not build orders.

try civ4
play some noobs and just build ur self a nice empire

very laidback, try a earth map and just get yourself some nice cities and technology

Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory was uber fun.
Mafia was one of the best games ever.

other than that... i totally agree with you. I have a couple of designs myself, which I feel might be original.

The Number one problem with games today is that they supply you with a no-brainer experience. For instance when you get in a room and someone is watching a movie, you usually shut up. When you get in a room and someone is playing a game you talk about what's it about, how good the graphics are etc etc...

Either they have the plot or the non-linearity. I think people are missing the point here, totally. Games are INTERACTIVE.
Every linear game out there fails at seeing the whole point of games, and the ones that are non-linear fail at delivering an emotional experience (X3 for instance). Every game out there is mostly an "interactive movie", not because of cinematics but because everytime you play the game you get the SAME experience.

I imagined a game that basically changes according to your choices (FOR REAL) WITH an emotional response. Of course it's just a design. It will never be done I guess.

UFO: Aftershock

RTS-ish Team and Earth Management....

Oh yeah....

Or get Darwinia when it comes out.

For a totally bizarre game, get Killer7. I have it, and it is f*cking WEIRD, but I love it nonetheless. You may very well hate it, though, so rent it first.

if you didnt played resident evil4 sure is cuz you dont hav a gamecube or ps2 so sure it will not be a bad idea cuz are varios games in consoles that are very diferent form the tipical

and the first "out of the ordinary" game that comes to my head now is shadow of the collosus
