I purchased, yet AGAIN, Starcraft/Brood War.

I swear Blizzard does something to their CD's to make me loose them. I've never been banned from Battlenet or anything, I just end up loosing the damn CD's. I'm pretty sure I've gone through the following:

Diablo: Purchased twice
Starcraft and expansion: Purchased twice
Diablo 2 and expansion: Purchased 3! times
Warcraft 3: Purchased once (personally didn't like the game all that much)
WoW: Purchased once

I take it Pitz has got SC2 on his mind so cured his urge with some old skool SC. Well, thats what I did about a week ago...

STill an awesome game, if showing its age.

Lol, actually, yeah.

I have purchased the SC battle chest upwards to 5 times...
D2 + expansion - 2 times
WC3 - never, I wish I could buy it :(
WoW - NOOOOOOOOOOO

the discs disintegrate when you're not looking

i wish all the people still playing starcraft played Diablo instead

Acutally, I did that for a good couple months. Me, Pesh, TCfromBN, and my roomy all played together. Got my character up to ~90 *Trapsin* and m my pally hit 85, and then a couple lower level fags. Really, though, the game is mad fun, then just drops dead after a while. I'm starting to go back in time with my games recently....if you really want, I could probably jump back on sometime.

I still go on battle-net every once in a while and find someone to play with.

Diablo 2 is for sissies.

diablo1 has more hackers than actual players

Considering, everybody who plays it hacks, lulz.

And D2 is for sissies? I have yet to play a game of D1 that was even remotely challenging or has enough to offer to keep my interest since I've played D2...

If you can afford the SC battle chest 5 times... then why not war3?

1.) every time I go to buy a blizzard game, it's what I want at the time. When I want to buy the WC3 battlechest, it's nowhere to be found. I think it's fate telling me something.

Fate is also probably telling you to download the demo, it's only around 95mb.

I've played it before, so it's not like I've never played it. It's really not one of my favorite games, either. I don't enjoy it that much, but I enjoy playing multiplayer, anyway.

Guys you can pretty much just mash the keypad and get a valid SC key.

Starcraft humiliates it.

Except for the fact that the entire game bored me when I played it \=

And on another note, was I the only one who lawled when Arthas turned into the undead prince guy? First thing that came to mind on that was Kerrigan.

lolwut?

Arthas turning undead is the same thing as Kerrigan turning zerg, I did notice lol.

But, Kerrigan > Arthas because Kerrigan is hot. Arthas is a man so he loses, and it was not much of a surprise for me...

Starcraft is awesome. I think my USEast name is diethylamide.

It's 2 am, and I just finished an hour long game in which Pitz toyed with me for the whole session, then destroyed my base within the span of 30 seconds.

Meh, different strokes for different folks.

In terms of UMS, War3 beats it hands down.

As for actually melee, personally I don't have enough experience in SC to comment on it. I can't argue that it definitely requires more skill to succeed there, at least in terms of macro SC beats War3 no contest. But in terms of fun, I'll give it to War3. I don't know why the 'hero' system is so frowned upon. Personally I think it's awesome and really changed the whole RTS element of it. The limit to 90 food means you can't just mass units to win, you actually have to think / plan a strategy accordingly otherwise you're just burning gold (no / low / high upkeep).

I don't like warcraft for these two reasons:

1. Setting and atmosphere. Stupid cartoony pseudo-medieval fantasy=fail.

2. Heroes. It's a goddamn RTS game. It should be about strategy, troop movements, and efficiency in massing troops, not about who can build the heroes the fastest.

You gotta play more often, get some better builds down. ;) With you under my wing, we will be UNSTOPPABLE...*or just a pair of newbs, whichever :(*

1. That's fine

2. Since every race has an alter-first build, almost all heroes come out at the same time (notable exception in Human, but it's at an enormous expense). I get the sense you're being sarcastic here so I won't keep mumbling on about that.

Thing is, the unit cap actually promotes strategy. Whereas in all those other games where it's all about spending whatever resource you have immediately, War3 actually makes you think of whether I should continue to pump units (pass low upkeep and incur tax) or sit tight (get upgrades, etc. and avoid the tax).

With all those other massing games, in general, it's more important to see who's massed more units. It doesn't matter as much if you lose units as long you're killing more. Whereas in War3, it's a mix of both in that you have an incentive to not lose units unless you want to feed their enemy heroes experience. Heroes do change nearly every staple of this genre, but since they're all well-balanced; I don't think it's a negative thing.

War3 has plenty of those aspects that you mentioned before, they're all very VERY important in your average game of War3. I'm guessing it's been a while since you've last played War3 and back then, the skill levels were probably lower and you didn't see it emphasized as much.

If you really want troop maneuvering, play Warhammer: Mark of Chaos. It's all about tactics.

I will join you guys in like a week. But if you have me as an ally, you will hate me because I suck, if I'm an enemy, the game will be over too fast. (Because I will lose very fase, I think you are better than me.). :(

Really, I'm not too good at the game anymore. I've lost all sense of what to do, and all anybody plays anymore are UMS *not a bad thing* and FA$TEST/Money maps....*gag*

I have a dark confession to make:
I bought Starcraft once, played it for a while, but got bored quickly. The end.

That is a very serious crime, riomhaire. You shall be punished... soon...

Starcraft sucks!

*kicks dirt in everyone's eyes and flees*

Jesus Christ, you guys have the same problem as me.

Starcraft + BW = Bought 3 times
Diablo = bought twice
Diablo 2 = bought twice
Warcraft 3 = Bought twice, expansion pack once

What are you talking about? I never lost my Blizzard disks... :O
