I refused to read the PC gamer HL2 review...

I did not want to read it...I looked at some screenshots but not the whole thing...I don't want PC gamer to spoil to for me..but my favorite quote was at the very start of the review:

"Half-life 2 puts Farcry to shame and beats Doom 3 with it's own flashlight." I loved that..I wish they could have said something about Halo 2 but that isn't out yet.

Anybody else refused to read it??
 
Just read it. There aren't really any spoliers. Come on, you know you want to.

It even says in the review itself:

"If you don't want to read the review because of spoliers..skip to the last page of the review for the score." So I did.
 
Nah, i read it. I really don't think that there were too many spoilers. Nothing major was revealed, even though he did put a "spoiler warning" in it. The reviewer said that he tried as hard as he could to do a review on the game without spoiling anything, and he did. Barely any of the plot was revealed, in my opinion.

Oh yea...27 DAYS!!
 
Yes, it wasn't that bad at all.

Unless if you are really uptight about spoilers, I wouldn't be afraid to read.

You know..that counter is just going to make the wait longer...My idea of a counter is...Halo 2 comes out Nov. 9th. Exactly a week after...HL2 comes out. The start of my real excitement is when Halo 2 comes out..That means the HL2 is only a week away!! ( Plus it gives me a week to play Halo 2.)

True, true. I don't have Halo 2 preordered, but i'll probably end up getting it for Christmas or something. But yea, the last few days before it's released will probably go by so slow! :rolling:

I always appreciate these forums cause people always tell you of spoliers and such..but these other people that think it's funny to ruin the game for someone else...well all I can say is they already ruined the game for themselves. Once again I thank you.

Edit: so it wasn't a spolier...ok.

I like the caption under the uber-old screenshot of the Strider amongst the fleeing City-17 citizens:

"I'm not sure whats happening here but I think the guys running are your enemies and the giant tripod monster is your pet."

EDIT: Also, to further support the claim that it is a "joke" review, he posts that big 'spoiler' in the pro/con section. Obviously not something a journalist Valve would send an advance copy to would use as the basis of his final score. And certainly wouldn't use "A%" as a grading type. The unholy marriage between letter and number grades simply has no place in game journalism.

That's why I think that the HL2 counter should be backwards. Instead of counting down from 27 days, it should start with 1 day and count up to 27 days....

OMG! I didn't even read the damn review and saw that last part on the "CONS" damnit WTF! IS THIS LEGIT?! Who is this guy that got HL2 in the mail? True or no? I'm sooo pissedddd

you would have to be pretty gullible to think that they ment "alyx dies at the end" in the way they said that. lots of things in the article lead to you knowing its fake in just a paragraph or 2.

yeah, but if you're like ME, you just skipped to the end and saw the "cons" part, then proceeded to become extremely pissed off, then looked through the rest of the thread and calmed down, feeling very silly. but maybe that's just me.
 
The number of innocent souls violated by SA continues to grow. People could've read this thread before exploding at a fake friggin' spoiler.

Lowtax and co. LIVE to rile up communities and laugh at their reactions- quit feeding the high-class trolls, kids. You're throwing big lumps of stupicoal onto the flames. And I'm running out of shitty analogies here.

I've read the PCG UK review but not their US equivalent's- I'm not really sure what difference it'd make, although thus far it half feels like every single magazine has only thoroughly played the scenes in videos and screenshots, so cautious are they to avoid spoilers.

Except for the SA guys! They've played the whole thing; I should know, I delivered them pizza and watched them fight Nihilanth's babysitter (awesome miniboss). To begin with I thought the umbrella salesman was a cheap, unoriginal NPC, but the moment he began singing I knew gaming history had been made.

That last bit is made up, by the way.

Well short of soliciting illegal activities we can't really help you, sorry. Unless of course you're referring to the 'fake' review at Something Awful. In that case try using a different internet browser other than the one you're running currently. Maybe that will help.
 
god i clicked that somethingawful link, and read something i didnt want to, i just wanted to see the rating and saw 2 words, god im pissed now, i hope it isnt true....im gonna go slap myself in the face with cold water until i wake up
 
I refused it too! I'm just too lazy to read it. I just looked at all the cool screens. :)
 
There werent any real spoliers. Just some simple stuff that you probably thought of.
