So, did'ya miss me? :P
How's the site been?

Hello fellow Half-Life 2 anticipators...again...

This is User Name just checking-in to see how all of you are doing while anticipating and patiently waiting for the final release of Half-Life 2.
I also wanted to let you all know that I now have COMCAST HIGH-SPEED INTERNET. And believe me...it IS high-speed. That is right...before, I had Netzero Dial-Up Internet (which blew big time). I can't believe Netzero has the right to call it Netzero HIGH-SPEED Internet...that is just bullshi+.
Anyway, I am filled with so much joyous energy right now, I can barely contain myself. :bounce:

I, or my dad and I, just hooked everything up about two days ago. The self-install kit was very easy and simple to hook up and go. So was the modem and cables. I downloaded a lot stuff off of the internet, now that I don't have to wait an hour just for a trailer to download. I watched a lot of Half-Life 2 trailers and gameplay footage over the past two days, and they downloaded EXTREMELY fast! I watched that Coast Bink in FULL SCREEN and it looked magnificent! Probably, the best one have seen yet! I am so happy! :) :bounce:
This is the way internet is supposed to be! And the phone-line doesn't have to be tied-up when I am online! This is probably the best internet I have ever experienced. Pages load like a 100, maybe 500, times faster than before! :bounce:
Thanx DAD!
School has settled down a bit, but I doubt it will ever slow down with the work that they are giving me and the advanced classes that I took. I was just bombarded with work...essays, oral presentations, quizzes, AND tests! I believe I needed a break from this site to concentrate on my work. I know I will never be able to let go of this site, no matter what happens. We've made a mutual connection that is bound to hold and last.

I'm somewhat new to the whole phenomenom and I wanted to ask you a few questions for someone out there who knows.

What is the average download and upload speed I should be getting with my broadband internet?
What is the difference between USB and Ethernet when hooking up my Comcast High-Speed Internet? (I went with USB)
Is cable the same thing as broadband?
And is there anything else I need to know, now that I have High-Speed Internet? :stare:

...
Now all I need is a boost in my video card and I will be set for Half-Life 2.
*And I am also getting the internet at a very low price with lots of goodies bundled in... :) :P
**I may post rarely when needed in certain forums on this site. I just don't have time to post like I use to.

Edit: I have a question to the moderators here. Why can't I change my old email address, in the User CP, to my new email address? There seems to be a problem. ;(

Depends on your upload and download bandwidth :)
Not much difference with USB and Ethernet except if you happen to use Linux then USB might not have much luck.
Type of Broadband.
No. :)

Ethernet is better.........

/me claps for User Name

:D

:) Welcome back, and congrats on the Broadband. You've got DSL or Cable? Your download speeds are supposed to be what they say it is as well as the upload, I.E. mine is 3 Mbps down, 256 Kbps UP. That translates about 340+ Kbps transfer rate, don't freak out if you're internet is NOT EXACTLY the same as the rated speeds. USB and ethernet, umm I don't recall much of a difference, but I did read somewhere that Ethernet cable has some advantages, probably nothing to worry about.

Now, that you have High Speed, check out www.dslreports.com

Get some speed tests, tweak tests as well.

I like your new sig User Name.
 Thanx. After reading this, I decided that petsovernight.com would be a great signature. Too funny!

Welcome back, User! :D

And congratulations on the high speed internet. :)

I absolutely love high-speed, and going from 56k to Cable was a dream come true, so I can totally understand where you are coming from User Name. (And either USB or Ethernet is fine for Windows computers.)

Welcome back User Name, I heard Comcast was giving away an Xbox or something when you signed up for their internet. I might be wrong though, I do remember an IntArWEb company giving a free console with your sign-up.
