in hl1 we saw things like scientists getting pulled through gratings by aliens and hanging off an elevator then falling etc, in hl2 we dont really see any of this

I agree. Not enough macabre humour. And not enough soldier vs tentacle action either.

I remember in HL1 there was a part where there was a barnacle above the stairs and the soldiers would run into like idiots and get eaten. Whatever happened to those moments in HL2....

HL1 is clearly the better game. I wish HL2 would have been just a tiny little bit more like HL1. With just the right amount no one would bitch that it was too much the same as HL1 or to different.

I say plenty of combine get sucked into barnacles.. You just gotta get them to run into them. =]

HL1 has a little more variety in some areas but can't really match the excitement of the later levels of HL2.

It's a shame the combine troops are the only real enemies though. I loved fighting the Vorts and Xen troopers.

What I found rather clever was the fact that other creatures can now see barnacles. In the original game, the source code kinda told most humanoids to pretend they didn't exist. Combine actually shoot the barnacles - if they spot them.

?

So watching the combine being ripped apart by aunt lions and aunt lion guards is no fun???

The setting in HL1 and 2 are far different.

Theres no reason that "aliens" or the Combine would be pulling people though vents like that.

HL1 had a much more survival horror feel to it, which I loved. HL2 got away from that.

still it would of been good to see a combine getting sucked up by a barnicle and another combine trying to pull him down by grabbing his legs

I saw a combine getting pulled into a barnicle. As for another combine saving him, well, that's just crazy talk!

Agreed! :)

HL² also lacked ennemy diversity.

Ok, well I'll try to create these sorts of situations when I replay the game. I do remember a Barnacle swallowing up a headcrab, which was pretty cool.

No way!! If theres one thing HL2 does well in it is the enemies.. - Striders, Gunships, chopters, soldiers, snipers, zombies, those freaky monkey zombie things etc etc - fighting them in groups or individually adds even more levels of diversity to the enemies, not to mention how each enemy requires a different approach.

"Don't step on the sand!"

That was kinda like that.

Meh, while nice touches, I never found myself missing them in HL2. Like WhiteZero said, one was more survival horror-ish. The context of Black Mesa, a science research facility with many varying closed-in environments going ape shit with creepy stuff, made those kind of situations make sense. They really didn't serve a place in HL2, a game that had a very different feel to it.

improvements

I think valve should release a patch/mod that doubles the amount of combine through out each level after the game has been completed. this would increase the chances of them being pulled up by tenticles it would also up the action and make it harder (i think this game is waaay too easy). Dont get me wrong i love this game but i find after completing it (in just 4 days! & i only died a couple of times) it doesnt have great replay value because the pace of the game is a little slow when you already know the storyline.
