It's a bit too cartoony. But if you like it that way than it's all good.

Hence "Anime"

I think it's great.

Hmmm, same old eyes with the same old shading. Anime is good for developing drawing skills for about 3 weeks as u learn primative shapes. Thats about it. If you have ambitions of been a good drawer I would sharply go straight to figure work :D

Well my friend Mike, he started off drawling anime and he was drawling for abou 5 years since 4th grade. Hes quite good and can draw cartoons such as the simpsons, dragonball Z, digimon, and yugioh.

WEll, there's not much to comment on, I'd like to see an entire character or something.

Another thing, don't be too proud about your drawings, or you won't improve.

It doesn't matter if it's hard or not, it still takes much less skill than life drawing.

It might not be hard, thats why theres a whole shitload of that stuff in japan and china. Lol they should tak ethere time and make it better. lol

Oh, ya I forgot to add: I JUST LEARNED THIS TODAY AND FINISHED IT ALL IN 15 MINUTES, So I am Proud of it, For being my first good anime..

And another thing, I just finished a character head but it looks like complete crap, the hair is the only good thing on it, and the hair still sucks :\

Not bad but you really need to work on actually drawing an entire person. :p

Why even bother saying that :hmph:

You know it's just going to anger someone. It's a debatable matter. Life drawing can be far different than anime, so you can't compare skill levels. Life drawing is usually done all by hand, where a complete anime work is done by hand to get the line art done, and then it is traced and colored (a skillful process) on the computer.

It may be simple, but that's the skill right there. You have to make it simple in a way that it looks good too. That's why it has it's own genre of art. It has it's own STYLE. Real life art is just drawing or painting what is there.

And Pacerzfan, I'm not even going to consider that comment.

Let's not forget that anime can be animated. Animation is a whole other skill set in itself.

Hmm, sorry but I dont like it that much. The hair looks cool though

Nahh, I dont really like it. Sorry. But the hair looks cool,

if you ever want to get better with art then i must recommend that you try to avoid anime style like the plague.

I'm not saying this cause i hate anime, I'm saying this from the standpoint of someone who is in school training to be an artist. It is infinitely better to develop your own style

I Honestly REALLY suck at life art, Cartoon art is my strong point, which is why I draw it, I don't wanna be an artist, just a good drawer, I enjoy drawing at times.

Who says being a good drawer doesn't make you an artist?

Not bad but: firstly you need to pay more attention to proportion and symmetry. Look at him, the size of the head! :O

The good news: That looks great for a complete beginner like you. I couldn't do better when I started out.

The bad news: If you want to improve, you'll have to practice a whole lot.. read up on books, visit sites like www.conceptart.org , learn anatomy, proportions, perspective, practice basic shapes etc etc..

The second good news: All the hard work is worth it. Trust me.

I can't believe some of you guys. He's not trying to be a professional artist, he LIKES to draw anime or cartoon style so LET HIM. He doesn't need you dragging him down with things like "anime will get you nowhere!"

Let him improve and most of all, reinforce him.

Do not - I repeat DO NOT - start with anime.

Just say no!

Basically all anime artists learn how to draw actual people first, and then once they have that good, they abstract those shapes into exaggerated cartoon characters.

If you start with trying to copy anime, you'll end up with what you have here: a bunch of unoriginal 'eyes' cut-and-pasted onto a grassy egg.
The typical anime eye shape was developed by taking an actual human eye and reducing it to its minimum components and then stretching it, while still keeping a semblance of realism.
If you don't keep that realism in mind, it's just a poor copy.

I'm sorry to be so frank here, but you are honestly doing yourself a disservice.
You've got good linework and the ability to reproduce shapes forms with accuracy.

Now please, apply that to anything else!

Once you can draw real folks, anime will be a breeze, and your cartoons will look much more fluid and professional.

I went to conceptart.org and those are some pretty frickin talented people, I wanna do that! So Ima go to the book store and find some stuff on drawing realisticly (Spelling?) I don't even care about anime now, I wanna draw some realistic crap! (Not feces, crap in meaning "Stuff")

Stick men ftw :D
But that's very good for your first time you actually draw.

Oh, and it's 'realistically' ;)

How should I get started on drawing "Realistically"?

For your Anime:

1) Use pencil to draw the basis of your work, then use fineliner black pen - 0.1 for detail, 0.3 for the edges. Try it with no shading, and then post it and see how much better it is. When you get better, just use the pen alone.

2) Look at a lot more anime pictures - Start to focus on the position of the eyes, nose and mouth. I seem to remember there being a site where it shows you the proportions.

Good luck!

Draw from life. Draw basic shapes in 3D. there are tons of tutorials out there, ask on CA.org, they're very very helpful over there.

Here is some stuff:
http://www.gfxartist.com/features/tutorials/

But honestly, you shouldn't even ask how to start out. Just practice, practice, practice, study things, learn the human proportions (google is your friend here). Draw loose.

It's true what Mecha said. It's best to get your proportion and stuff totally straight instead of starting with anime. Of course it's not like a MMORPG where if you start as a wizard you'll never be able to be a brilliant warrior (or whatever) but it makes it much easier to draw good anime if you already have proportion, anatomy and basica skills down.
