Last night I was up until about 4am. I went to bed and woke up for about 15min around 11am then fell asleep again. Now it is 6pm and I just woke up. I slept for 14 hours. I missed all of the daylight. I've also been eating a lot of filbert nuts lately, although that may be entirely unrelated, or just because of the season.

Anything over 12 hours can be harmful, but your body is just reacting to time spent without sleep.

Try getting back on a regular cycle. Go to bed at 9-10 and wake up at 7-8 with the use of alarm. Enough months of doing this and you should be back on a healthy sleep cycle.

It's not harmful unless you do it over and over again. It's fine to take extended sleeps every once in a while, especially when sick.

you sound like a productive member of society :)

Yeah, for the past two days I've seen little sunlight. Since the sun goes down so early now, and also since I've been going to bed so late (also about 4am), I catch about one hour of sunlight. I always feel like I've missed a whole lot when it happens, so tonight, after I watch Conan, I'm going to take a sleeping pill. Take that healthy internal clock!

Hehe, I kinda laugh that you think 14 hours is hibernation. I can sleep through days. Plural. DAYS. 24+ hours. It's slightly disorienting when you wake up (especially if it's dark out) and you have no concept of what time it is or what day it is.

That's usually how I spend my vacation time and weekends. In fact I only got up two hours ago after having slept for 12 hours, and that's light for me.

But on the flipside I can survive a "hell week" of staying up and not going to bed for about five days straight.

Neither of these things is advisable btw; it really is bad for your system. But eh, personally, I don't care.

You are damn mighty, and huge where it counts. That's probably what you wanted to hear, right?

It's the locket.

I usually sleep 2/3 hours during weeknights, and 12-14 hours on weekends.

Jesus... I have to get up at 5:20 weekdays, and if I fall asleep at 12 or later, my head will hurt in the morning and I can barely function. I keep making a point to myself to go to bed earlier and get more sleep, but I never do :\

Dont know, ive had to adapt this method because every month for the past two years ive had a different schedule that makes me change my sleep patterns drastically, so eventually i just got used to not sleeping during the week. I do it all without coffee or any caffeine supplement too.

Sounds like you have AIDS.

No, he has...
