Can I download Garrys mod even thogh I have a dial-up internet conection? I have the other system requarments Windows XP and such.
 
It would just take a mother****ling long time.
 
Write a story downloading Garrysmod on 56k
 
How long is a long time? half an hour one hour? And can I spawn and control Hunters, Striders, Gunships, and Antlion gaurdians?

And to any asshole trying to put me down by saying, "You can't spawn Hunters yet." ... by the time he downloads it, he probaly will.

Can I get amore realistic awnser. three hours?
 
I'm still struggling with the idea of parting with ?10 for gmod.

On the one hand I want it because its supported and updated and more stable and new things and better things to play with.


On the other hand I am really cheap and I don't wanna pay for a mod.



Meh, I'll probably get around to it eventually.





As for the OP, upgrade your connection first, or don't even bother, 56k in this day and age is just offensive.
 
You could have had it by now if you started downloading when you first made this stupid, useless thread.
 
So why not just let it download overnight then? Most likely it'll be done when you wake up.
 
Or play the older versions if you still have them...if they still work?
 
I don't have any of them. And the comp im on is the only one in the house. And it runs on the only phone line. So I don't think my ma would like it if I cloghed the phone up all day. Jerks.

There is a Hunter in Gmod 10. It's only a ragdoll, though.
How are they jerks?

ok now I have high-speed. a 768 X 128 connection. But I have the orange box and don't want counter strike but I need a source engine game it say's. Is there a way I can download just the engine?

any game made by valve will be source. just because it doesn't say source at the end doesn't mean it doesn't use source.

And I don't recall you saying "I have the orange box on the 360" ... I just assumed you had it for the PC.

You'll need to buy at least one Source engine game.

I'm sorry I thoght I put in that I own the 360 version in my other post. but damn you guys are waaaaaay to tight. the other boards on this fourm arn't nearly as pissy as you.
 
you cant have garrys mod since it is only for pc and the only source game you seem to have is the 360 version. there is a deal going on to buy css + gmod for 25 bux. also we dont get pissy in just one board. it depends on the attitude in the thread.
 
and if you do that CS + Gmod10 deal, you WILL NOT be able to spawn anything from the half-life series.

We're exactly the same people as the ones from the other sections. You just don't ask stupid questions there or get pissy at people for your mistakes.

You can't install Garry's Mod without a game with the source engine. You can't spawn things from games you don't have. You can't download something quickly on a 56K modem.

It's that simple.
 
The above few posts pretty much sum it up. Don't want to re-buy it for PC? Tough luck, cause if you get the Counter Strike bundle, you can't spawn any Half Life 2 models, npcs, weapons or anything. Then you could go for the TF2 bundle, but meh, you've got it on 360. The Orange Box is better on PC anyways.

...coming from a Manhack, I know.
 
Hm I guess you guyses are right. I can't spend the money now anyway (on account of not having it) But if I can in the future I'll get the Half-Life/Gmod bundle. I definitely want to spawn Half-Life stuff. Oh uh how fast can I download that bundle with a 768 X 128 broadband connection?
 
Well, after re-reading the Garry's Mod website, it seems you can indeed play with Half Life 2 models even if you only have CS. Not sure about npcs, though.
...So that's good news for you, I guess.
 
I have both the 360 version and PC version, and I will tell you now, The Orange Box is better on the computer. Graphics is X3 better and controls are not stupid. A while back I intended to create a thread called 'A Review' which compared both. I might make it tonight.
