it wasn't that bad. sometimes it was even kind of rad

im interested in your opinions

I watched it with my sister a while ago to see what all the hype was about. I didn't think it was overly hate-worthy, although hating the series seems to be the trend. It's not a movie I'd go out of my way to watch again, but it wasn't terrible.

Twilight teaches small girls that owning multiple men through entangled relationships are ethical purposes to gain what they desire. The protagonist Bella is protrayed by the film as weak and helpless, but in essence is this massive manipulative bitch who dangles her pink shit over these men hoping to gain vampirism (among other reasons).
I really hate these movies.

I like Twilight. The series would've been better if they'd kept on Hardwicke for all of them though. Too many breaks in continuity/lack of pattern makes them a bit sloppy.

alright good i am not alone. i really don't understand the massive hatred of things like this. it's not very good but it wasn't anything to be so appalled about.

well ive only seen the first one, where this doesn't apply. that starts with the next one, right? it looks like you either didn't vote or havent seen it either.

I had no idea nighttime hl2.net was this bad.

I love the Twilight films, they're gorram hilarious.

Oh and Taylor Lautner is the worst f*cking actor in the history of bad actors.

Hey, the one time my title actually comes in handy! :)

I thought it was hilariously and painfully bad. I confess to genuinely laughing once or twice, but I'm honestly not sure if those parts were intended to be funny.

I mean...

I don't see much of a problem there...

My girlfriend watched twilight, we're no longer together...

Those things are in no way related but it's fun to mention them together :D

What the **** is wrong with you children.

SUCCESSFUL TROLL THREAD IS SUCCESSFUL.

Yorick you would accuse someone of trolling you if they sneezed in your general direction without warning you in advance.

Obvious troll thread is obvious.

But I'll take a twilight rant any day. I watched half of it, and it was without a doubt the worst film I have ever seen, and if I find anyone who does like it, my respect for them pretty much capitulates immediately and I find it very hard to accept their friendship.

I watched fairly early on before I knew what I was getting involved with. New Moon didn't stand a chance on the 'once burned, twice shy' rule.

Tried to watch it, and quit after about 15 minutes. Keep in mind that it wouldn't really matter to me if the story was decent, or the actors were good. It's this repulsive combination of, angsty teenagers, plus vampires, which I can't stand.

You guys have no sense of humour.

I've seen worse movies than twilight.

I love Twilight. Team Jacob 4 life!

Never saw it.
No plans to.

Something about vampires that don't really want to drink blood and don't burst into flames when in sunlight just puts me off.
That and its tweenage girl fanbase.

I saw the movies, they're not as good as the books! But the female actors are hot, so I watch them.

I'm still waiting to for the movie cover version of the fourth book to come out so I can have a complete collection instead of a freaking chess piece on just the last book!

How is this thread a "troll thread?" I was just interested in exactly why this movie gets so much hatred when I found it slightly entertaining. Mostly to laugh at but I mean, I could easily see the appeal for what it was.

TROLL POST TROLL POST GTFO

I watched it while at work (during a crazy slow week) when a friend said it actually wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. He was right. Its a really bad movie, but not as bad as people made it seem. I didn't vote in the poll, because the closest option to my stance implies a chance of it being likable, which it doesnt have.

Appeal? What appeal is that? Unless you're a illiterate and/or 12 (or Deathmaster, who might be both), I'm not sure I can see it. "Trashy romance" and "Severe lack of development" don't even begin to cover the range of sins that this series commits. It's such a cluster**** of cliche and poor writing that I wouldn't even know where to start outlining its flaws.

oh i get it, you're gonna make it a troll thread

have you read or seen it?

I've seen them all! :D

:D

Ooooh, I'm on the edge of my seat for the last one too. Will she be made a vampire or no?! I DUNNO GUYS! I MUST KNOW!

Speaking of books with vampires, has anyone read Blood Oath?

Not me.

Has anyone read Fevre Dream? Its by George RR Martin, thinking of getting it.

I know the answer to this, and I can't ****ing wait to see how they handle it in a film targeted at tweens.

Granted they'd be a bit older by then, but still.

Why yes I have both read it and seen it. The first one, not any of the sequels. Though I've heard they get progressively worse.

fair enough then, but to your own admission you can see the appeal "if you're 12." twilight is meant to appeal to young teenage girls. i suppose I just don't understand the overwhelming hatred for it in that sense. to me, the film was comparable to some mindless retarded action movie, like Wolverine, except intended for girls rather than boys. i enjoy Wolverine as a guilty pleasure, even though it sucked pretty hardcore... so why is it such a travesty when girls, even older than teenaged, enjoy twilight? christ i even enjoyed it... the laughably terrible parts were mostly to blame but there was some rad shit in it too.

because since we're not the target audience we can see the set ups, the build up and the plot devices that are used to appeal to people who like that sort of stuff. it's the harlequin romance books of the movie industry; fluff, no better than the a really bad action movie meant to appeal to a certain mindset; like Transformers movies or Gymkata

I'd say it's worse than the new Transformers.

Twilight is pornography for tweens. There is literally zero substance to the story. Bella is an ambiguous, completely bland and conveniently unremarkable and empty vessel of a figurehood for a teen girl that any female reader can assume as herself (just like the vast majority of male porn actors are for men). She has the most convenient and easy life: evil bitch mom who she can hate with no consequence and quiet, easygoing but protective/authority figure (cop) father who loves her and will do anything for her. She moves to a new, romanticised small town where people don't know her and she has a fresh slate to become popular. Those are two huge issues for tween insecurity right out of the way: family and school. The story can then focus all of its time on what the tweens want: Bella's mate. Seriously, that's all this ****ing series is about. The 'plot' consists of her going about having predictable, convenient, unrealistic setpiece 'scenes' with idealised males which are staged (often at the expense of logic or plot) for the purpose of being emotionally and sexually gratifying (just like porn 'scenes') to the reader/viewer. The surrounding plot has no real bearing on these porn stars, and never is in real danger of changing the situation: after four books there's still the same sexual tension, the same thrill for Bella to choose between wolfman and duckface Pattinson. 'Bella's dying! Should we turn her into a vampire?' 'I dunno, that'll mean that we could finally be a compatible couple, thus ceasing the sexual tension between us and ending the series prematurely. Let's just let her writhe on the floor some more.'

At least the original Transformers had a plot that was more than just role fantasy for nerdy boys. The fate of Autobots vs. Decepticons had implications outside of Sam's life. For much of the series Sam is irrelevant, focusing on galactic conflicts between bots. Yes, you can argue that the vampire families and all that other nonsense gives greater scope to Twilight but really, is that the focus of the series? Does Bella treat it like it's going to be as big an issue as, say, Edward's love? Does Edward? Do the readers actually care?

I'd rate the new Transformers as better than Meyers' work because Michael Bay at least has to go through the motions of following the original characters and story.

You say that like I'm being hypocritical or sexist against women. When in fact I also think that Wolverine was one of the worst movies ever made and that anyone who liked it is a total moron.

dude seriously, you need to put the guard down, i wasn't actually implying that, im just commenting on the general double standard i see for guy-indulgence films over girl-indulgence. not just with twilight, but with crap romcoms too.

also, **** you you uptight cockbag, wolverine was fun as balls, maybe if you took that splintery tree trunk out of your asshole you might have enjoyed it some more

:)
