Glad you liked it I believe that the only way to completely remove piracy from the gaming world is to use authorisation like that. It'll need to be far more complex than what I described for it to be warezproof.

Warez groups will find a way to bypass authorization completely. You won't even need to log onto steam. Warez groups will find a way. there is NO way you can stop it.

I think you probably will have your steam account authed before anything even for just HL2 or anyother game. Look at the minimum specs. Internet connection

would be interesting if steam required those specs I came across them from browsing games and then clicking the link that asked to check spec requirements or somin. Its on the package list page.

If there was a problem with steam then Valve will probably just modify it soon or soon after HL2. Although i have heard before that certain stuff isnt activated on steam atm which explains why people can use cracked stuff etc. If valve are bothered they will sort it.
