When playing through the game the 2nd time (on hard), I noticed something strange at the start of the game (after the trainstation, in the playing field:

I played around with these things, I realized that one piece was missing, I found the missing piece hidden close by here:

I can't find a way to attach that piece, This is something that we may consider an easter egg. I believe that if I attach it and solve the "pussle", something might happen!

What do you think?

Er that's an abandoned childrens playground - they have those strange O's and X's things in childrens playgrounds sometimes. It's not an easter egg, it's just realistic.

Yes but I found the missing piece, it was hidden. I don't know how to attach it.

Um, they had those at my old elementary school, I thought they were as common as monkey bars.

But as far as attaching it. Don't think you can, wouldn't he just throw it against it?

It was really poorly hidden, I found it first time round without looking. I really don't think it means anything, but I could be wrong.

it's because you can't attach it. the mapper thought it was cool to find the missing piece of a toy somewhere else in the level - end of the story.

interesting,

i kinda feel bad for valve because people expect EVERYTHING to have some hidden meaning

not that it's NOT an easter egg im just saying

This is strange. First time playing the game, I noticed the same thing. BUT. There were no missing piece IIRC. I remember turning all of them so you could see the X's but then nothing happened so I went on. Never saw the missing piece either. Not until today when I restarted on easy. Weird :) Differs due to different difficulty setting?

Who expects everything to have some hidden meaning? I just wanted your thoughts on this, it seemed peculiar

YOU CAN DO IT...dumbass

Hm....Intersting. But i doubt its a real easter egg, maybe it was just one of those. "It's cool but it doesn't mean anything at all" . Nice find though.

That's a way to bring the mentality of the citizens a bit closer to player in the beginning of the game. You can actually play with all the stuff on that playfield (although it took me a couple of tries to get into the swing but hey, it was fun!) and the missing piece is most likely taken by one of the citizens because he/she was really attached to children and even possibly hoping for one but then the combine came and now the closest thing to a child he/she has is that triangular piece of wood.

Sad story actually :(

Nothing's going to happen. People need to stop reading into the minutae of this game, it's only a loads of ones and zeroes!

I bumped into the missing piece on my first time going through the game, gave a little laugh and thought nothing more of it.

I remeber playing a diffrent game with those things, by throwing little bags of beans at them to turn them to the side you want. two people play, and they pick a sign, the winner is the one with teh most on a prespecified side.

Mattel or some other toy company made it back in the 70's, it was called "toss across" :O showed my age :cheese:
