Ice Age In Britain On Its Way

i live in britain and its worrying, they dont seem to be taking this as serious as I thought :( but what can you do about the problem, ... work from the source.. but no , lets keep pumping CO2 into the atmosphere in even larger quantities George bush says. :(, I can believe it only takes a few more inches of rainfall each year to disturb the gulf stream.. But I heard before it happens the weather will peak at a near tropical climate.

...YAY!!!!

These warning have come for a long time; and governments seem to ignore it.
This is some serious sh*t....ppl need to recognize this problem...sea's can rise 0.5 meters in 50 years for example..and the earth get's warmer and warmer..and it's people that are causing this.

Europeans in general don't seem to believe in global warming. Americans appear to but don't really care much for it.

If the north pole melted, surely the water level would drop. Considering ice takes up more room than water and most of the north pole is under the sea...(ake the Ice berg as an example. Something like 70% is under water. If the antartic melted, then perhaps it may rise, but again the whole ice being bigger than water thing...

The world climated goes through cycles, they can be small scale like every ten years and large scale every 10,000 years. I think its just a cycle that we are going through. Humans really havent been producing "green house" gases long enough to make a considerable difference to the climate. The cutting down of rainforrest has sped things up, but i think much if not most of the climate change is simply due to the natural way of things. However, having said all that, i know for a fact all the stuff we polute the world with is having a efinated effect.

I'm obligated to point out that our data before this century is somewhat suspect. We've been confined to making guesses about what the whether may have been like thousands of years ago, and trying to fit the pattern into what we know. Fact is, we're still not sure. Could be global warming, could be a natural process. I regard reports like this on the level that I regard reports about incoming asteroids: we should be ready, but we shouldn't get ourselves worked up over it prematurely.

You know, I am all for reducing pollution and CO2 levels we put out into the atmosphere. These are things we all should be concerned about.

But global warming isn't an exact science, and is a controversial idea at that.

The earth has gone through ice ages and warming periods for thousands of years now. Perhaps the changing in temperatures have as much if not more to do with the earth going through natural cycles and not mans meddling.

I want to clarify that I'm not saying global warming doesn't happen. But we sure as heck aren't as sure as some people make it seem. Its sort of a cop out as someone mentioned, whenever something seems weird with the weather we blame it on global warming. Its kinda like the Nazis in videogame plots.

Not to mention the rise in degrees of the average temp on earth is closely related to the magnetic activity of the sun.
The sun stops many cosmic rays from entering our atmosphere, cosmic rays help produce clouds. When cosmic rays hit the atmosphere they cause aerosols to line up, aerosols are little particles in our atmosphere that clouds form on. The lower the magnetic activity on the sun, the more cosmic rays, then come more clouds, and that means the earth gets colder thanks to being shielded from the sun's heat. Or so the theory goes...

EDIT:
Forgot to add: The magnetic shielding from the sun has gone up in the past 100 years, corresponding to the increase in temperature.

Every problem in the world can be put down to global warming, Nazis, Communists, commie-nazis(As seen in the Simpsons), Microsoft and Nestle.

"Global warming is all our fault! We need to DO something about it!"
Like what?
"Buy this crappy-looking car!"
Haven't we had an ice age before? How the Hell did that happen without people?
"We're just accelerating it!"
How much?
"What?"
How much?
"Look at these statistics."
Why?
"They're statistics to make you feel scared"
Oh... okay...
"Are you scared now?"
No.
"Heartless bastard."

Heh.
Indeed. I really don't care about Global Warming.
And if it happens(Which is likely to be a cycle of nature), we can all blame the Communists.

If it does happen, do you think it will happen with all the excitement, tragedy and one man struggles against the establishment/his feelings/his worst nightmare/aliens/communits/nazis/Microsoft/nature that you get in the films?

Actually, it's been a while since we've battled Communists in movies.
I don't think so though. Of course, the Communists will try to push the arctic waves toward the US. They'll probably use some sort of Wave Machine, maybe even a Death Clock.

The Communists will team up with Nature, and the French.

...ahem :hmph:

COME TO WONDERFUL NORTH CAROLINA! the capital state of hardee's, pepsi, and tabacco!

Gee, what a combination!

well, ill be gone by the time global warming really starts affecting the earth, and hopefully some japaniese people will come up with a way to fix it.
no prob :D

you do realize thats roughly 110f below, dont you?

I don't believe he could survive in that temp., even with all of the super high-tech clothing for mountain climbing. However, I could, in my astronaught suit. :borg:

My opinion on this topic- unlikely. But global warming is a really big issue, it probably wont effect us much during our lifetime though which is why no one bothers.....

omg....this thread just scared me.....omg....guys remember john titor....he said in 2036 the global warming actually ends up making the world cooler .....omg..... /me in shock

Good!! Satan Satan Satan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who is afraid of global warming should come over to Asheville, North Carolina. It's in the mountains, plus its got every community you could imagine crammed into it.

Hippies, goths, old people, mexicans, rednecks, liberals, conservatives, it's all here!

Plus, if you're between the ages of 18-20 you can go to the local highschools to pick up freshman girls like all the other rednecks do around here.

I've lived here for 2 and a half years and I haven't seen any beavers yet, so I guess we do have one disadvantage. But we do have possums, squirrels, and rabbits. (And roadkill, like a lot of roadkill . I'm not kidding)

lol,, and it effects france and spain, predicitons of Icebergs forming, as far down as Portugual. :(
