Ico is one of my favourite games. It's very short, but very sweet.

You're right that it's often described as one of the most beautiful games ever made - and that's because it is :) It's one of those titles that you don't just play, you 'experience'.

It's weird that such a simple game can have this effect (there really isn't much to it - guide Yorda about, some simple action and puzzle solving etc) Ico has a charm to it, everything comes together so well and the result is just magic :)

(my brother ran through it in 7 hours and thought it was crap, though :) Damn philistine. Probably not enough explosions and limbs flying about :/)

The sequal looks just as lovely and, if it turns out to be half the game that Ico was, will be a complete joy to play.

(Best game on the PS2? certainly up there with the very best on the system (just don't come at it expecting miracles. Take your time wth the game and the chances are you'll in love with it like so many other 1000's of fans) gl finding a copy.)

yeah i heard is quite simple but just has a certain 'gracefullness' to it, its almost dream-like, some people dont 'get it' i guess as egm ranked it no.10 in their top10 most over-rated games.

"This will upset the art school kids, but Ico hasn't really changed our lives. It's not that we don't appreciate the relationship between its characters and the understated themes, but the 'games as art' folks need to get a grip. We've got a ways to go before the Louvre....".

Then it asks, is the game actually good, and replies "Absolutely, though you don't need to write your masters degree thesis on it." .

Yet at the same time, a few pages later, they listed the top ten coolest upcoming games, and on that list was Wanda and the Colossus (the unofficial Ico 2 game)! :dozey:

Man, Wanda and the Colossus really looks like a pretty game. The screenshots I've seen are just astounding.

Hot damn...

One thing I liked about Ico was that you could play 2 players, one playing as Yorda and the other one playing as Ico. :)

Ico is a masterpiece, the game looked, and still looks absolutely incredible, really shows how well the PS2 hardware can be used, and beyond that it was a game that required thought, it had story that was told simply, but very well, and above all it's got characters that are very likeable and it's not all about combat, but it's not just a platformer, Ico is one of the top three games on PS2, hands down, right up there with Metal Gear Solid 3, it's worth getting even if you have to pay full price, like a good movie, it's a game you won;t soon forget after finishing it

Ico is what the new Prince of Persia Ubisoft games should've been. To bad PoP went in a crappy direction.

Also if you're planning on playing Shadow of the Colossus as if it's Ico's sequel, you'll just be disappointed. They're made by the same company, but that's it. That doesn't mean it'll play anything like Ico.

The scale is like that in Ico too. You'll climb onto some platform and you'll be able to see somewhere miles away in the distance.
