id Software games available on Steam now

Bah, after using Doomsday the original Doom engine is argh unappealing. The controls feel so much clunkier after you've tried Doom with modern-day features, blah blah blah.

Isn't Enemy Territory Wolfenstein a free mod?

I simply will have to buy it.

Enemy Territory is a free standalone game that doesnt need Wolfenstein to play. So if thats all your after just go to file planet or something and it should be there. It was originally going to be a RTCW addon (standalone or not, I cant remember) but got canned some way into development so was released as standalone freeware.

Cool. It would be nice to add to the collection for Steam though. :D

I noticed that this deal has almost every game by id except for a few:
commander keen 3.5 and 6
ETWW (which is free I didn't know that)
Quake 4

I think that's all.

I didnt read the whole news article, nor the thread, but can we put our exsisting cd key code for Doom3 onto Steam? Or was there no CD code?

Thanks

Ps: PM me the answer so I can see it quicker :)

I was wondering the same thing about Return to Castle Wolfenstein, so I punched the CD-Key in the the Steam product activation screen, but to no avail:
Invalid Product Code

The product code you've entered is not valid.

Please double check to see if you've mistyped your key.
I, L, and 1 can look alike, as can V and Y, and 0 and O.
I think Prey is the only non-Valve published game which you can add to Steam using the CD-Key, sorry boys

Awww. ;(

I was hoping to put quake 4 when it eventually comes to steam.

Wolfestien 3D! Oh god, my first fps!

I still have it on a 386SX

This is great! Didn't hesitate to whip out my credit card for the super pack. :)
Finally got a valid Quake 3 Arena cd-key. Now my life is complete. :D

FTW!!!

I have yet to try Hexen : Deathkings of the Dark Citadel.

This bitch was so rare back in the days.

Total. Complete. Absolute. Full on. Undisputed. Outright. Perfect. Utter. ****ing. EPIC WIN.

Also missing:

Quake II NetPack: Extremities (a collection of multiplayer mods)
Hexen II: Portal of Praevus (pretty sure I botched the last word )
Heretic II

And the versions of games which used CD music (Hexen, Quake and expansions, Quake II and expansions, and perhaps Hexen II) leave something to be desired, since they have no music now. :(

It would also have been nice to see master server support added for these games; pretty much taken as a given nowadays, there's no easy way to play Doom 1/2 or Quake 1/2 online.

I had no idea it was so difficult to play online with these older games. Can you play online with the Steam versions of Doom, Quake etc. and is it easy or not?

IDs total back catalouge for 36 quid? Oh hell yeah. Considering the individual prices add up to over 100, its a hell of a deal.

Yes, you can play online; it's not really "easy" with anything pre-Quake III, though. (It's as easy as it was at the time of the games' launch. ;))

i wish you a good time with this release, because i live in germany. do i need to elaborate?

well, let's see if there's any way to go...
