So lets say someone succesfully the HL2 retail version and make it possible to play the game. Lets say the difference is a single small file that unlocks HL2, backupcopies the exe, edits it and let you play it.

Would you download it and play HL2 or would you wait?

Wait. Because they'd track me using it no doubt, or something, and it would screw up my copy of the game and I'd be forced to buy a new copy no doubt.

yup if I bought the game and had a phyisical copy in my hands your damn right.

In fact most games I do buy I no cd crack them for convience.

I would download it. I've owned the game for over a year, I deserve to be able to play it.

What he said. :O

I have also used no-cd cracks in the past too so i don't have to have my cd-drives filled with games. (and yes i did have original copies of the games)

Well, I just want to know if the game will be released tonight or not. It's 02:25 here in sweden... Well, I'll guess I can go to bed, and if it's released tonight I'll have a nice suprice tomorrow...

Nope, never, they'd find out, ban my steam account and IP and then I'd be really f*cked, and i just don;t want the hassle

It's days away...I can wait.

There's something about that count down and wait which will make it feel more satisfying on the 16th.

I would , but really I have spent a lot of money to get half life 2 , to get banned for a stupid mistake

Would they really ban you tough? I mean you own the game. And it wasn't you that cracked the game and changes the code. So?

I don't think HL2 requires a CD to play it.

If it does I would just make an ISO from the original CD and use Daemon tools to play it.
No cd patches can get you banned and/or could cause damage.

If you bought the game people should be entitled to make a backup in order to not damage the original CD.

Well if there was some simple little text file or something that somehow unlocked the encrypted game content...and somehow activated itself without using steam....and somehow allowed you to play the game entirely even if there is another preload phase (which I think there will be)... and this file was released globally... over the internet.

Then Valve should be burned down for making their 6 years of work so easily to be cracked by a simple file that somehow didn't change code and didn't break any laws regarding pre-releases or decrypting.

Yeah...they'd disable your account.

Btw what made you think it was going to be released tonight? Comes out tuesday.
