If any of the main NPC's were to die, how do u think they wuld die in HL2?

Have you ever seen the speciel Olympics? There are some runners with only 1 leg and these people have a rubber leg, just like Alyx's father. These people can run extremely fast... But anyways, he might be dead, who knows?

well, since hl2 will be much longer then hl1, i'm sure the dialogue sequences will be a bit more longer, thus advancing the story, thus looking at the faces more fun

the articles in this site itself says the game will be around 36 hours, i really, really, really, don't think anyone spent that much time for hl1 the first time through

Gordon walks in Eli's lab. Eli's all like, "Hey, what's up?" Then you decide to shoot Alyx, who's standing nearby. She dies. Eli's scared, he runs but trips, and dies. In the middle of all the commotion, Barney comes in and senselessly says, "Hey, I'll catch you later." You're thinking... "wth?" And then Barney notices the two victims of your masterpiece and again, mistakes his phrases and says, "Ye-ah-ah-I'll stay here and guard this area." He suffers from a heart attack, and dies.

Then you walk around in Eli's lab, wondering, "Hmm... what next?" So you find a big, red button which you press and you watch as it unleashes a nuclear bomb that forever ends life on earth.

EDIT: Anyway, I don't think many important NPC's are going to die with the excepcion of eli

I think alyx has to die. Give gordon another reason to fight. Besides, if she's alive at the end of the game, then I guarantee that they will have you play as her a time or 2 in HL3, which would suck.

I find it hard to believe that Alyx dies at the end of this game.

Reason - who else do they make an expansion pack for. Valve have already stated that there will be expansion packs focusing on other characters in the game.

Alyx seems like the first choice for an expansion pack to me.

Eli is too boring, Barney has been done before, no-one wants to play a midget monk.

The only other choice other than Alyx or another resistance fighter is to have one for the other side. That would be cool, to be a Combine soldier and to be hunting the resistance.
