If anyone is interested in animation and has broadband

My dad watched it, I only glanced at it, it was weird. :/
Of course, I'm talking about the late anime version.

YES!!! AWESOME!!! Ghost in a Shell was awesome, and now a sequal! Its a mix of Anime and CGI and it looks good... and yea, sorta wierd too :) I cant wait!!!

cool, loved the first, downloading now

63.4 meg, kinda big, hope its worth it

:naughty: GITS was so damn tight, the series Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex is supposedly being dropped around summer of this year(2004).

the song was pretty go, and was the trailer, cant wait to see it. but yeah i forgot i had itunes running, so wheni put on my headphones, i thought the song playing for it was Rammstein's Mein Herz Brent. actually worked well with the song untill i heard the chick singing in the back. but it was good none the less

Ummm.....Where the hell is the chick?

I don't give a shit about blondie and his dog. That invisible naked bitch was the coolest part of Ghost.

Wow, that looks cool, and the music wasn't that bad IMO.

edit: W00t 2500th post! Though I shouldn't do that :p

Cram it wanker. "Blondie" was the coolest character in my opinion, and if you watched the first to the end you'd know that the 'invisible naked bitch' was put into a new body, so no dice.

holy sh!t I absolutely LOVED ghost in the shell (and own it) can hardly wait for second one... wow amazeing trailer /me waits for gits 2 ya the optic camoflouge woman gets put in a little girl body (all the dude can find on black market)

Bateau looked more badass without the ponytail, but oh well. I'm waiting for the trailer to load now. Is this the one with the store shootout and the crazy kimino robot? [edit] no it's not. cool. am downloading.[/edit]

I like the mind-trip bits of GITS the best. That and the tank fight. I still don't know what to think about her ripping herself apart. The separation of the self as an extension of the physical body is ok in theory for me, but GITS shoves it in your face and rips people apart. There's definately some decent themes/irony/symbolism there, but if you want all that you can google it.

Jesus, a little hostile there. Calm down man, it's a ****ing cartoon. I haven't seen the original for years so I didn't remember that the woman got a new body, alright? Jeez...

I watched a few random episodes of the Stand Alone Complex and she seemed to be in that though...

Hostile? It’s you who are being hostile here, cursing left and right. Anime is based on manga much closer.. to tell you the truth, these two movies are totally different from manga/anime.

As for trailer, very nice, and music is great too, not some generic techno crap. Can’t wait to see it.

How is cursing hostile? I like to curse. I curse about things I like and I curse about and with my friends. I remember really liking the first movie so I was like "hell yeah!, wait...where's my favorite character? The invisible naked bitch? Nooooo!" Curse words can be terms of endearment.

Oh...and I wasn't calling any particular person a name like I was called a "wanker."

Heh, I was just kidding. I'm not a die hard fan or anything (I don't even own it), I just wanted to straighten you out on the happenings of the original, and I wanted to use wanker because the oppurtunity comes up rarely in real life. No hard feelings.

Top get back to GITS, despite what this trailer shows, I don't think this is an action oriented movie. It will probably be even more unfocused and rambling than its predecessor, but since the first is probably my favorite anime (I dont like many), it'll probably be kick ass.

I wonder if it will get a theatrical release?

:O I wouldn't doubt GITS 2 would get theatrical release. It is popular as, if not more than Cowboy Bebop, whose movie got a theatrical release. I'm not talking big theatres now like the AMC or anything.

Speakin' of Cowboy Bebop, check out Wolf's Rain, an anime made from the same team that made Cowboy Bebop.

No hard feeelings at all. How could I ever hold a grudge against anyone with the excellent taste to have have a Fandango-themed avatar, Manny! I love using the word "wanker" and I would hardly condemn anyone for going all out in that respect.

In terms of GITS, my favorite parts were the more abstratct, musically based sections were you really had to reflect on what was happening in the story. This next installment looks to be the pinacle of that type of anime. Sweet.

A freind of Manny Calavera is a freind of mine! And if you happen to be Czech and know of Hunter S. Thompson, we're probably more similar than you'd like to know!

I agree that the musical segments were good, if not for a social commentary then for the amazing animation.

Anyway, when I said theatrical release, I meant wide-spread release like spirited away recieved...anything less would mean I don't get it out here in the boondocks. Does anyone think that'll happen?

I tried to watch GITS a few times... didn't do it for me.
