These threads are truthfully just getting annoying. The whole forum is cluttered with them and it just makes it harder to read the forum!
 
Trust me, they check out the forums everyday.

I know marc ladilaw is actually reading every crap we write about valve - Greg Coomer said so.

Odd. You'd think if they read the forums they'd realise that it's not the delays that are annoying people lately so much as dates being thrown out and then missed with no explanation, a total lack of any kind of dialogue between Valve and the fans.
 
Sure... Valve might be delaying the game.But not purposefully, and they are not gonna release a junk game like other game developers do..

It's not odd. They damn well know what we want - they damn well know we are annoyed by the delays - but like anyother developer, they don't have time to post on message boards to make small children happy.

Wow I never thought asking for 5 mins of their time to post "sorry we delay the preload for a CS:S beta patch" was asking to much. When do they find the time to sleep?

And yet they seem to have the time to say tell us repeatedly incorrect dates for preloads/SDKs/releases on message boards, don't they?

And as for other developers? Many have much better communication with the communities.

I noticed that Half Life 2 Fallout is the only forum where he posts..... And quite a few already.

I'm talking from their point of view, majority of HL2 fans are in the teen category.

And BTW, who doesn't want to share the good stuff: if valve would have the SDK ready - they'd be dying to post that to keep fans intrested. I doubt they'd be eager to post a delay notice.

I don't think they read these forums. It's like a friggen god complex. They just say they watch these forums so we think they are watching.

Hey and you know what. All they would have to do is post once saying "yeah we do." and all you pin heads would be like "SEEEEE TOLD JOO"

I think they are afraid to slosh through the trenches known as forums. Sitting up there in their IVORY tower, waving possibly the best FPS ever created above our heads.

Taunting us with release dates and verbal contracts broken repeatedly. I am ...I ...I am going mad. I have release fevor. Eye rot from forum lurking. Arthritus in my fingers and I think a little bit of heart failure.

Whe ..whe eh why VALVe ...why?

Well half-life 2/ half- life basically same community... i was talking about the half-life series in general :-D
 
If missing a date is something shocking and outrageous to you, just expect delays to happen. I can't wait for the game, I expect it to be awesome,

But I don't expect them to announce everything they are doing and every tiny delay.

I mean the Pre-load doesn't even do anything. What difference is it if you get it a day before or a month before the game gets unlocked? How fast it downloads perhaps but that's not what people are complaining abute.

Do they really need to post a message to let you know its been pushed back? What happened to wait and see?

So many people say what you are saying. I KNOW I wont be able to use the pre-loaded files but its all about Valve sticking to the sh*t they give us.
 
I had planned to preload HL2 yesterday because I have a download cap of 3Gb / month. My current period ends on 28th august. I had hoped to be able to preload before that day (still possible) because I have payed to go over my download-limit for this month.

If the preload is delayed a week (next monday), then I'm out of luck already. So, for some people it matters in a small way. I hope they will start the preload before the 28th so I have spent my money ($30) well because I don't really have any other use for the bandwidth.

Damn... that sucks.. hopefully they will pre-load this week, if not this year. :O
 
that does suck about the bandwith.

When Valve makes announcements, plans are going to change some of the time, and they will be wrong later.

If they never wanted to be wrong they wouldn't release any info, and then they'd be yelled at for that.

They can't win everyone's appeal.
