If it really comes out at the end of September, doesnt it have to be finished early second week of September? That only gives Valve about 3 weeks! :eek: :eek:
 
But, they had five years to make Half-Life 2. They're probably just slackin' off.
 
We don't know how far they are with it. People seem to assume that they have lots of work to do before they are finished. I'm not sure why that is.

Maybe you're afraid they won't finish the game and that they're going to delay it maybe for a couple of months...

You're not the first one to point this out. But we all feel the same way trust me.
 
Well my reason for thinking there is alot left to do is simple. Gabe keeps saying in recent emails (in the valve info only forum) that "were still thinking about that, or we are still working on that" etc.

That seems to me like a bad sign, but he could be tricking us? :x
 
But he also said that they had finished the game part and they were just "Finishing up", and some of those e-mails are quite old.

The key point is that they haven't finished, completely. They can still make changes.
 
I hope they do, it will make gaming history, a good game coming out on time :O
 
yup, I have another theory why its may be delayed. Vivendi want it delayed for peak time. Valve dont care. They got in little dissagreement. Vivendi posted delay. Valve denies. and so on.

Also, it doesn't make sense to DELAY something till peak time, normally things that released early for peak time.

Half Life 2 will sell pretty well no matter what time it is released.

EDIT: Slightly two late. Also, I've never heard the term Drill and Bass before but I'm not sure which genre he does actually fit in to.

He is great, but I haven't heard much (Windowlicker, Come to Daddy, and At the Heart of it All).

You should go for The Richard D. James album, Come To Daddy, Drukqs, Ventolin EP. Those are the best.
Drill'n'Bass is another word for out of control Drum'n'Bass and tracks such as Girl Boy Song is 100% Drill'n'Bass

one time at the FM forums, someone had a raffle thread, giving away a vid card and something else

there were hundreds of replies, and guess who won it? the first person to reply, who did so in about 30 seconds (the same minute) won the raffle... everyone thought it was a conspiracy, saying that the poster is the same person as the one who won; the winner hardly posted at the boards and got lucky enough to be on the Internet at that moment

as for Valve, I just want it to come out on Sept. 30 with the least bugs, which is what they are focusing on right now, and probably balancing issues and such
 
It seams the game is very close to being finished and there adding final details/bug fixes. I cant be sure but thats the way it seems :borg: :borg:
 
all i can say is OMG Aphex Twin OMG

Edit: Oh and HL2 will come out Sept 30th (POSITIVE THINKING IS THE BEST THINKING)
 
i keep telling myself HL2 will be released on time, and i believe that dammit!
 
Some of Richard D. James's shit is just weird, though. He has lots of incredible stuff, though. Great artist, and I don't usually like drum'n'bass.
 
maybe valve plays a trick at us and releases HL² without a message before, just like they released the first info on it some months ago...
 
I don't get Aphex Twin. Some of his songs start off with a real cool electronic beat to it, then it just gets real weird.

First time I saw the film clip for Come to Daddy it was 3:00AM and totally dark. Freaked me out pretty bad. Has to be on my list of "Weirdest Film Clips Made". I think it would come a close second to DJ Shadow's "Rabbit in Your Headlights" :eek:

Also, why are people assuming that Valve is really far from finishing Half Life 2? I have no idea what they are basing that assumption on. It's going to get to 28th September and people are going to be going "Oh my god, Valve only have 2 days to release they game and they have SO much to do!"

I blame Abom|nation for all the delay threads, he's gone on Holiday. He's so selfish.

This is something I have thought about as well. If they really had 'so' much work to do, why would they be spending all this time answering emails and doing interviews, etc.? If they really had a ton of work to do, they'd be silent, and slavering away to get the game done.
Which probably has something to do with the timing of announcing the game. They probably got to a point where it was just down to final tweaking, and said, ok, let's announce this thing, and answer people's questions about it while we finish up the last of it.
At any rate, all of this is pure speculation. We don't know where they are with the game, what's going on with Vivendi, nothing. All we can do is wait and see.
